Thinking about swapping the disco 3 out later in the year so having seen the fuel consumption figures 50.4 mpg combined thought I'd try the new X3 out.
In order to try out against the competition i drove a Q5 just beforehand. the X3 IMHO is a much better car ( this suprised me as i'm usually more of an audi man than a bmw man despite having a Z4). the engine is remarkable plenty of power for the car type yet even the test drive demo was showning an average of 36.6 mpg compared with the Q5 showing an average of 27.8 mpg ( not scientific i know but gives an indication of the difference). the X3 felt a lot more spacious than the q5 which felt small in side in comparison .... visibility in the X3 much better.
Thought the basic specification was pretty good leather interior and cruise as standard .
Downsides : some of the trim feels plasticky in comparison to the Audi ( particularly the auto selector ... looks good feels naff) and the engine sounds very unrefined at low speed.
Considering road tax is £125 ........ this on the shopping list for later in the year... waiting list is six months :x
