Is it just me or is this just unimpressive... losing the auto roof, stereo and air con to gain just 0.2 seconds 0-62?

What next... demanding drivers remove their shoes and trousers before getting into the car, to save some more weight?!

It gets worse when you see it with the "roof" on...

Did they get that from Millets?

That said, if it really does for the Boxster what the GT3 did for the 911 it could be a handy tool!

quite like it roof off, roof on looks a bit bluepeter. Would rather have it than a new z4 though...

I like it with the roof off too, but seriously what happened when they designed the roof for it..

Nice idea, but I'd want a stereo at least.

Hmmm strange things.

Anyway, never mind that they're bringing out a 4 pot porsche. Thats just WRONG....even if it has got a turbo.

Is that seriously a roof?? I thought someone was drying their black shirt on the top........

Having said that I like the it with the top off  It sounds almost like convertable version of Gayman

If the car's supposed to a track car, it seems to me it should be a hardtop - a GT3 version of the Cayman, rather than the Boxster. Here in the US, you often can't track a convertible.

That aside, I don't care for the "speedster humps" or roof. I'd have left those off and gone with a hardtop but no convertible top, with perhaps a tonneau for coverage during emergencies.

I know which I'd rather have!

Similar performance for less money also!

The Porshe does look better with the roof off than up though!

You know, there was a time when I would have agreed with you, but the new one has grown on me greatly and having owned one for a while now I can't believe what a fantastic road car it makes! That bi-turbo engine is a peach! :driving:

One day I will right up a proper comparison with my old Z4 Coupe.

I actually rather like it. It should be a much sharper tool than the 35i Z4 and i even like the Spyders looks. Like a mini Carrera GT from the rear. The tent like roof isnt that much of a bother either unless this would be a daily driver but for someone in a drier environment that shouldn't be an issue at all.

Sounds pretty good too.
