Hey, recently I found out that both my rear rims were cracked and that both my front rims were bent. After experiencing a loss of air, I decided to buy rims now. I’m looking into forged rims 18inch by 8 front and 18 inch by 8.5 in the back. I really would like forged rims but I can’t seem to find any that are a reasonable price. I am only able to find over 650$ per rim and I wanted to know what site or rims do you recommend. I would like to spend up to 1000-1600. For the set.

Is there any reason you don’t want to go to 19’s.... there are various genuine O.E. BMW forged wheels that will fit at a fraction of the cost of ordering new aftermarket forged 18’s (which tend to be very expensive).
No compromise on ride quality compared to 18’s with the right tires either.

Lmao my other wheel does not leak any air at all and are new. It would be a waste of 300$ to throw out a perfectly fine tire. If it came down to it then I would replace the two rear tires and keep the two front ones.
I've got some split rims - no idea if forged or not- complete with 3 decent runflat tyre for sale(other at 3mm) no problems with leaks /bent/ cracked rims etc V spoke 294 18 " taken from my 35i E89. Wheels 11 years old but you wouldn't know itFull details here

This 100%, why look at very expensive forged rims to enable the continued used of the worst possible type of tire on a Z4?
You won’t find new aftermarket forged Wheels at low cost, it’s likely to be cheaper to buy new non-forged wheels and non-runflat tires and sell what’s on the car currently.

I mentioned 19" wheels because I would just buy a new set of tires for the car if it was actually worth buying them. Also, what do you mean by the worst possible type of tire on a Z4. Are you talking about run flats in general, and if so, what tire would you recommend?
Yes, runflats or ‘run-craps’ as they get called here in the U.K..
Fitting non-run flats transforms the ride on a Z4 as you pretty much sit over the rear wheels (not literally obviously). It’s much more compliant and you’re much less likely to damage your wheels
You need a small compressor and a couple of cans of tire foam, vast majority of forum users here ditch the run-flats.

IMHO if you have it that bad with potholes in NY then you need really two sets of actions..
You need to go to 17" wheels as they tend to be stronger AND the appropropriate tyres which have a much bigger sidewall.
We suffer where I live in the Scottish Borders with serious pothole damage, in part to longer, colder winters but mainly due to logging..by the time 2,000 40 tonne movements have gone through on a small road the destruction is significant.
So I run 17" alloy wheels with All Season tyres in winter and 18" wheels with pure summer tyres in Summer.
Over 4 years I've not had a cracked/dented rim despite extensive use in winter often at speed.
Most suppliers of alloy wheels here in the UK have standard disclaimers on using 19" wheels with low profile rubber on damaged roads.
Your problem is excacerbated by use of run flats as they have much stiffer sidewalls which transmit the shock of a pothole much more severely.
Forged wheels don't buy you anything as yes they are on a pound for pound weight stronger, but all that happens is that they reduce the weight for the same strength as a cast wheel..ie no improvement in shock resistance..just a lighter wheel, which does have other benefits.

Thank you so much for this response! I understand where you are coming from about the 17 inch wheels because I was told the same thing, to increase the amount of tire which will help with potholes. I will probably stick with 18s instead of 19s because like you said, I would need to reduce the amount of tire for the 19s to fit properly and I can't do that here in NY. I will just buy flow forming rims 18 inch but what tire brand for all season tires do you recommend?
