I just came across this story

How does BMW figure we don't need trunk space. When they built this car they made sure you could get two sets of golf clubs in the trunk. I hope they still make the soft top. I do like the looks of the car.

It's a better rendering than many I've seen, but they still have the top looking cloth or vinyl covered and I've got doubts abou the front fedner cut-lines and rear tail-lights. Not awful-looking, though. I'll be stcking with my M Coupe though - as the weather warms up, I worried about missing the top-down experience, but I'm not.

All in all it reads like the author made it up as he went along?

The decision was also made because of competition from Mercedes’ SLK and Mazda’s new MX5/Miata, both of which come standard with hardtop roofs.

Riiiight. So the new, bigger, pricier Z4 is worried about competition from the MX-5? A lightweight roadster that retails for about half it's price?

although there could be an entry-level model in Europe with a four-cylinder mill

Could be? Virtually guaranteed...

while the flagship M Roadster is likely to get a brand new high-performance turbo six with around 350hp. This is to ensure the M-spec Z4 doesn’t step on the toes of the M3.

A turbo'd M car? I am sure the M division have previously stated they would never use turbos, though in light of recent tech - 335i - maybe that stance is changing. Regardless, as the current Z4M does step on the M3s toes without issue, I think an M3 V8 powered roadster would be quite a thing.

That doesn't make our current Z4's look outdated at all. In fact, ours look cooler and more stylish IMHO.

The head of the M-division recently conceded they might look to turbocharging with the next generation of M-cars. The first would likely be the next version of the M5.
