Was the smarttop easy to fit? Fancy one but not sure I could fit it.
Yes, the smart top really was a doddle to fit.
I was very aware of the connector being fully pushed in, as I had read a lot about that beforehand, but I really had no issues at all. It just plugged in and worked first time.
The hardest thing (as most who have fitted it will say) is finding a space to put the connectors afterwards. The connector on the loom that the original connector plugs in to is quite chunky, and it is really difficult to get it to sit where they show it in the installation instructions. However, I managed to get it to sit there ok after a bit of fiddling.
Only other issue to look out for is to be careful with the trim fasteners. I now have one rolling around underneath all the other trim as it popped out and I didn’t catch it. I also noticed one was missing beforehand, so I just bought some more on eBay for £2 for a pack.
I used a trim removal tool like this:

It made it really easy to get all the trim off.
I also now need to plug it back in to the computer to change some settings. I pre-programmed it with what I thought I wanted, but turns out the car already had some features like the near side mirror dipping when reverse is selected, so I need to turn those off in the smart top.
All in all it probably only took 30 minutes, but I could probably do it in 10 minutes now that I have done it once and seen how easy it is.
