Hi Everyone,

My name is Mark and soon to be the proud owner of a Z4 and can’t wait.

Having to return my company car (320d) as moving jobs and couldn’t resist the Z4, especially as the sun is trying its best to come out! I actually joined the forum back in 2011 when the Z4 first caught my eye, but it never came to fruition then as a two seater wasn’t allowed on our company car scheme.

Anywho, finally managed to sort it out! I’ve been skulking around for the last couple of weeks reading as many of the old posts as I can (currently got through about 60 pages!) and learnt plenty.

Smart Top, Gummi Pfledge and various other bits have been ordered ready for Saturday.

I do have one question which someone can hopefully help me with. My car has the 296 wheels and are still on run flats. A new MOT has just been put on the car, so my assumption is that everything is A-OK at this point, but I plan to take a look for myself when I pick it up.

My question is, how do I know if it has the newer style 296’s on? I know they have a thicker lip on the inboard side, but I would ideally like to see a side by side picture so I can see for myself. However, I have been unable to find any relevant pictures online (which is probably a search fail on my part as there must be some out there!).

If they are the older style I may consider switching to non RFT sooner rather than later, but for now the tyres have enough tread.

If any one can help I would be much obliged.

I look forward to being a part of this forum as well. Seems like a great group of people.

Cheers
Mark

From experience insist that the car goes on a ramp and the alloys are checked for hair line cracks on the inside rim, if the dealer is MOT’ing it I wouldn’t trust it without checking it yourself, I only discovered a crack 4 months after purchase by chance getting new rear tyres, wasn’t leaking air so was none the wiser, the dealer didn’t want to know, £615 for a new rear alloy at BMW!

Or get it welded for £50

Hi and welcome to Z4 ownership - after a 7 year wait! :o

I bet you can't wait for the weekend!

Thanks Mr Tidy,

Honestly I can’t wait! I’ve been putting out of my mind mostly but it’s only a couple of days away now, so what the hell....might as well start getting excited!

If it helps, from my 2012 Z4

Welcome. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I've just picked up a black 23i Sdrive myself last week

There's a couple of white M sport bumpers currently for sale on here too, which would really give yours a finishing touch

Ebay is your friend.

Hi, welcome to the forum, I'm really a newbie myself, but who's counting.

I live in Dorset and after cracking and buckling 19" rims on my TTS at a monumental cost of replacement,
I looked long and hard for an M-Sport Z4 with 18" rims. Mine is not on run-flats, and the ride and handling is
superb. Even after the TTS. Firm but compliant. I have the 7842134 style rims. I love them, they are easy to
clean and seem to stay clean all week.

It is going to be a great weekend. If you do not have a Wind Deflector, then make that your number one priority.
I have just fitted mine tonight. Genuine BMW version. It made a complete difference to roof down driving.

Hi Steve,

Looks like you have it fairly sorted.

Mine has the wind deflector already which is a bonus!

Bring on the good weather this weekend (although I will have to apologise as I fear I will make it rain by buying a convertible! It’s almost the same as having a bank holiday weekend!)

Cheers

Well, collected the car today and well chuffed! Spent most of the day tinkering and fitting the Smart Top which was pretty simple and works perfectly.

The only issue I seem to have so far is an intermittent fast flashing of the left (near side) indicators. It’s only happened a couple of times, but usually starts ok, then flashes fast for a few seconds, and then returns to normal.

Obviously I got out and checked the lights were working, and they were, but as it’s intermittent i guess it while it was ok.

Anyone seen this before?

Thanks
Mark

Just answered my own question....seems that some of the LEDs in the rear indicator are not working, so I guess moisture has got in there.

New one ordered from Euro Car Parts for £123 (they have 35% off) so will get it sorted this week.

Talking of getting it sorted....

:worthless:

Totally agree!

I was so busy tinkering today that I completely forgot to take pictures.

Will be doing that tomorrow for sure!
