2010: A year of mods! Eisenmann update P2

surely when you have to use an oven to perform a car mod you've stepped over some sort of line in the sand? :D
That reminds me of a story from my dad in his youth. Him and his mate use to modify their Hillman Imps and they regularly used his mum's over at full-blast to heat up flywheels before legging it downstairs with them to refit them before they cooled down. Not sure how plausible or how much truth there is in that, but he sounds like he was worse than me when he was younger, and he has the cheek to tell me I'm daft to spend money on cars :D

Sounds totally reasonable - a blow torch on the flywheel used to be the only way to get a stubborn mini flywheel seperated. They're pretty much held on by an interference fit and with the heat they get up to and the expansion and contraction it's difficult to get them pulled without using heat to your advantage. Could well imagine heating the flywheel to get it back on would be useful too :)

I can remember often getting shouted at by my mum for cleaning up bits of engine in the sink too - carbs and cylinder heads mostly. Mr Muscle oven cleaner does a cracking job on metal car parts, brought my cylinder head up a treat!

Men in sheds (and kitchens), made this country great! :)

When I read threads like this I can't help to shake my head and wish people who tell me I love my car too much would read it to.

Any mods I have done and will ever do are reserved to replacing bits with others that are a direct fit. Any project that involves fabricating something seems far too much hassle!

Lots of hard work has gone into that and from the pictures it all looks great. Like annoying little scratches you notice when washing the car - any imperfections are one of those things you'd never spot unless it was pointed out
