Sadly it looks like I'll need to part with my much loved Z4MR in a few months and I am looking for feedback on it's value please.

It is one of the last registered in March 2009 and I bought it with 50 miles on the clock in September 2009.

It now has 35K miles and has a FSH, the last one done at an independent and the next service due in 5K miles.

It has the standard wheels and 19" CSL reps with Avon ZZ3s and the rears are only 3K miles old.

It is Sapphire black with Imola leather (not extended) and has nav, carbon weave leather dash, heated seats and wind deflector too.

Any ideas please?

Thanks in advance.

:tumbleweed:

The problem I have in getting to a value is that most cars out there for sale are 06-57 plate cars and 09 plate cars are very rare it seems I have only ever seen 1 other when I bought mine.

There was a 58 plate Z4MR on Pistonheads last week for £18500 from a trader so I estimated my car was worth probably £17K at the moment.

Does that sound reasonable?

I think 17k sounds high considering mileage which is not particularly low for an M and non BMW Service history - Ms tend to be bought more on condition than age . I could be wrong buy I would have thought 16k would be a better starting point. Just my Opinion - perhaps others will consider I'm too low.

Talking from my own point of view and experience, private sale I would say 16k and if you decide to trade it I wouldn't even waste your time as they will try and have your pants down :!: .I doubt very much you would get anywhere near 17k from a dealer.

Trust me I know, was recently offered 10k for mine told the dealer to go and throw pish at himself    .

I honestly think if the car is in good/excellent condition you should be able to move it on in the forum for sale section quite easily
mine sold in 5 days but mine is low miles and minted :) :)

17k sounds high to me. Agree that M's sell on milage and condition, rather than age. Mines an 08 on 33K in decent nick, FSH, next service is Ins II, in 9K. Disks and pads changed at 28k. New tryres. I would not expect more than 15G's for it.

What a buyer would do is start with a base figure, say 15-16k, for a well kept car. Then start knocking the price down, based on the following sort of things:-

Is your next service an Ins II or an interim? £500+ off. If it's Ins II.

Have the disks/ pads, been changed, recently, sort of thing that might be comming up with those miles. £1k off if required.

Are the tyres fresh. £800 off, if not.

Hope that helps a bit.

I personally get your logic as I for one would be prepared to pay more to buy the last of a "potentially" collectable model (if I was on the hunt).

Given my 2008 M R is on 31k miles and I would expect around 15/15.5k for mine, I would say 16.5-17k isn't too far away...mine was valued by ins.co just over a year ago at 17k, as they had got an agreed value from glass' and cap giving an average of 17k value, when it had 24k miles on it...so if I were you I would advertise for around 16950, aiming to get around 16500, imho

Hope this helps

p.s I think D6GMBs sold a bit too cheap, given its very low mileage, etc but that's probably why it sold in just 5days, along with its excellent condition. But if you take that as a similar example going for 14300 and a 2008 selling recently near to me for 15400,then do the maths, folks (both cars I am referring to had 22-33kmiles on them/graemes and 1 other) This would point at an aprox £1100 per year/reg depreciation, for sensible/low mileage ones....and since when is 35k miles on a 5year old car not low??

But how long had it been sitting unregistered?

There have been one or two on here that have sat for 18 months before being registered.

I didnt think any Z's had a build date in 2009?

Would you kindly let us know why you"re selling, many thanks

Yes- but the mileage is not in keeping with a Garage Queen a la IMmie - it's not high but for me means there's little premium over a 57/08 plate.

Way too polite for you — you have given yourself away

I agree with Craig about starting a little high and ending up at £16.5k, prepared to take £16 at a push. Age is not such a big factor really - servicing and condition are more so and a 2006/7 on the same mileage will be similar condition.

Good luck

For 2 cars with identical spec & condition, an 09 plate with 60,000 miles or an 06 with 10,000 miles, which would be more desirable?

The 06. Low miles everytime if all else equal.

Whichever one doesn't have the flimper spec :poke:

Yep. The low miler would need a mint service history though, with at least oil and brake fluid changes every 2 years, right ?
