2009 Infiniti FX Makes World Debut at Geneva Motor Show [Mar. 4, 08]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 4, 2008) – Infiniti today revealed the all-new 2009 Infiniti FX performance luxury crossover in conjunction with the Geneva Motor Show. The second-generation FX, with its fusion of sports car and SUV design, will be offered in three models, including a new 5.0-liter V8-equipped Infiniti FX50. The 2009 FX is scheduled to go on sale at Infiniti dealers in the United States and Canada in June 2008.

The new FX’s world debut in Geneva was hosted by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. President and CEO Carlos Ghosn, who also announced details of Infiniti’s plans to enter the Western European market in the last quarter of 2008.

About the 2009 Infiniti FX
The all-new second-generation Infiniti FX is designed to offer exceptional levels of power, refinement, safety and driving exhilaration. Created as a fusion of sports car and SUV utility, with head-turning styling and an advanced sports sedan platform, the new FX is a showcase of Infiniti’s design and technology leadership.

Along with its dramatic, aerodynamic body structure and sporty FM (Front Midship) platform, the new FX features a extensive list of available equipment and technology designed to create an exciting and rewarding driving experience – including a new 390-horsepower 5.0-liter 32-valve DOHC V8 or advanced V6 engine (V6 details to be released later), 7-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control and available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.

The new Infiniti FX also offers a wide range of available safety technologies, including:
· Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA), which provides forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking
· Lane Departure Warning/Lane Departure Prevention system, which help keep the vehicle in its travel lane
· Intelligent Cruise Control (Full Speed Range), maintains a pre-set distance with the vehicle ahead at speeds between 0-90 mph
· And the industry’s first application of Distance Control Assist (DCA), which helps reduce the stress of driving in heavy traffic by intuitively helping to release the throttle and apply the brakes to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead

The 2009 Infiniti FX’s trademark performance characteristics are enhanced with a refined 4-wheel independent suspension and large 4-wheel disc brakes with available opposed-piston brake calipers. A new, available FX Sport Package includes a Continuous Damping Control (CDC) suspension, Rear-Active Steer and 21-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

Inside, the new FX interior provides a warm, modern, inviting environment highlighted by a driver-oriented cockpit with available sport seating and advanced audio, navigation and entertainment systems – including an 11-speaker Bose audio system, Infiniti Intelligent Key and Around View Monitor system.

Should be a great SUV....
I really like the wider D pillar; the 1st gen tapers down too narrow.
That front end would look scary coming up in your rear view. :o

^^^ the front end looks like a galloping horse with flaired nostrils!!

Nice find Rick! I am 99% sure that I will get a Carrera 4S and loose both my present cars next year. I do love my FX45 :)

I'm really starting to like this a lot, we're getting it over here next year sometime. Enfield - are you not going to consider it at all?

Or maybe settle for an FX37 instead? Love the styling of this car :)

Wondermike - looks nice but I am not thinking of getting another SUV. I am thinking of doibg the one car thing.... I am going to make that decision by the end of this year. I have the Carerra obsession but that would make a lousey only car. I may just become an average joe and get me an e92 M3 with DCT.... it is a nice sporty sedan that should be okay in the winters with proper winter tires....

DCT meant to be awesome? Would you get a 4 door M3 then or a coupe? What about the convertible folding hard top?

Just shows we are all different. I think it is one of the ugliest cars on the face of the earth. I have never seen a crossover that was not an abortion. Just my feeling gang. Sorry

2-door Coupe in Black (I know I have said I will NEVER get a black car again) with a red interior. :D I am not a convertible sort of fellow with my allergy problems. :(

I will be driving the e92 M3 Coupe with DCT at Mont Tremblant (BMW Fascination courses) for 3 days in September. I will make my final decision then and if I go for the M3 then I will do European Delivery for June '09.

WaZZZZman, no worries, the more I see it the more I love it, can't explain it :D

enfield, black is quite nice but like you say, a pain to look after. Silverstone is even nicer 8) and I saw a white coupe recently, looked so nice.

Couldn't agree with you MORE!

It looks more like a Hyundai than an Infiniti to me.

I understand the utility and appeal of crossovers but they all look so compromised to my eye that I could not see owning one. I saw an X6 on the road the other day and I imagined it with 22" DUBs and a 4 billion db subwoofer. Call me reactionary but they seem the spawn of a debased culture. :poke:

enfield, prices announced, how does it compare to the old one?

Starting on June 24, the all new 2009 Infiniti FX luxury crossover goes on sale in U.S. and Canadian Infiniti dealerships. Available in three different models, MSRP of the entry level FX35 rear-wheel-drive model is $49,950. The FX35 is also available with all-wheel drive for $42,350 and the top of the range FX50 with all-wheel-drive standard is $56,700.

The FX50 AWD gets a 5.0-liter 32-valve DOHC V8 engine with Variable Valve Event & Lift (VVEL) producing 390hp. For both FX35 models the same 303-horsepower 24-valve DOHC 3.5- liter V6 engine. All engines receive as standard Infiniti's new 7-speed automatic transmission featuring Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) and paddle shifters made from solid magnesium.

Other assist features include Continuous Damping Control (CDC) or electronically controlled active dampeners, Rear Active Steer, Intelligent Brake Assist, Intelligent Cruise Control (Full Speed Range), Lane Departure Warning/Lane Departure Prevention system and available Around View Monitor system plus an 11-speaker Bose audio system.

All of these individual features can make your head spin, so Infiniti has put toigether a comprehensive list of packages that wraps everthing together and a little easier to absorb. Something for everyone, they include the Technology Package, Infiniti Mobile Entertainment Package, Premium Package, Navigation Package, Deluxe Touring Package, Sport Package and 21-inch Summer Tires which are super lightweight aluminum alloy wheels designed by Enkei.

See press release below for further details.
