Tbh that looks like a very good price as it is.. I'd probably offer 9k but realistically I'd be prepared to pay asking as doubt it will stick around long at that price

Isn't that the car that mr Wilks recently posted up? I think it may have been reduced already but not sure on that.
Imho it's at a reasonable price but sometimes only by viewing a car in person can any issues become apparent :o
I've seen 3litre si's for nearly that price, buy it :poke:

That seller has a task on , it has many desirable features but it looks cack & as it stands 2 things are against it gaining interest from potential buyers . possibly 3 if auto doesn't do it for you ?
The miles & the wheels :? One you can't do anything about , the other is a easy sort but not free so work that in to what you are prepared to pay . (whether its refurb or new shoes)
Its not what the car is worth now , its what its worth when you have it as you want it
If that car stood before you totally mint , crisp & clean with a unmarked set of 19s , some better pics & description it may draw £10k
Try for £8800 , throw £700 at it then enjoy the car :driving:

The mileage would kill it for me , but otherwise its a good spec, put some new alloys and rubber on and on paper would be a good buy. But a good inspection and more info may prove otherwise.

If I was buying a Vauxhall corsa the mileage would be concerning, a 3litre bmw (if it's looked after properly) should shrug off this mileage and double it without major problems

Thanks for the input guys !! the mileage is the major turn off for me and I agree that it will need new shoes !! But again it is the only 3.0L within my budget :headbang:

I will have to view and inspect it before making any offers of course.

I will be viewing the one in the following link this weekend as well (This one will need thorough inspection though): http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201606225168826/usedcars?logcode=visc

Looks a bargain to me when you can buy 07/08 plate Z4 coupes for the same if not more money!

Does anybody know why the residual values of these older models are now higher than some of these early new shape Z4s?

Not bad with iDrive. I know where there is a set of those wheels and tyres for £800 that look good.
Interior a bit boring.
Hey but could be changed?
Just give the retractable top a good seeing too.
My colleagues only goes faulty hot weather.

Maybe because the earlier ones (E85 and E86) are a bit more focussed?

Plus this E89 is leggy and automatic, and all E89s have an electric handbrake that seemingly tends to need "software upgrades" from time to time to keep it working - I just wouldn't want it! (Wheels aren't great either).

As others have said, the wheels let it down.
And for the price there has to be something not going for it and that is the mileage.
If you want something with lower miles you will have to pay more or wait till prices drop a bit further.
For every high mileage car there will be another with lower miles, it just depends on whether you want lower miles.
I would rather pay slightly more and have the miles closer to an average mileage for that year, so 70,000 would probably be my limit.
As for the electric handbrake being an issue on these cars, I wouldnt worry about it. There are lots of BMWs with this type of parking brake and not a lot of reported problems with them. Modern technology, move with the times.

You'd have to see it and drive it. Mr Wilks picked up a good car with high miles so it needn't mean it's a bad car. I'd want to see if the paint was as good as it looks in pics, brakes were good and solid, no rattles from suspension and reasonable wear to the interior. Sorting the wheels will be easy.

I did indeed but I didn't initially set out to go the high miles route , it was simply a far out better deal than any of the other examples I had considered in the previous 3 months id been watching the 89 market
It just cements the adage that once a car drops out of newness & factory warranty all you can do as a buyer is go on condition , history & general feel for the previous owner / miles covered .
Low miles can be hard done , high miles easy  you just have to do your homework & at some point take a punt
My guess is that 30i would make a fantastic car with some time & a few £ thrown at it

Its miley, it's blue and it's An SE. And it's got a horrible set of wheels on, in both design and colour..

That's why it hasn't sold..

If none of the above bother you i would try and get it as cheap as possible, because when you try and move it on it won't be an easy sell

DSB is a great colour if presented well & the Se part would appeal to me , of all BMW models the Sport spec has always been the one to pay extra for but for me the E89 hasn't worked out that way
Without wanting to offend Msport owners for me the rear valance looks very untidy :o almost aftermarket , the front Msport is very colour dependent as to whether it looks better or not ?
I prefer the style lines in my front Se bumper that aren't present in Msport
The steering wheel I prefer with the silver Se insets
Suspension is no secret that Se's ride much better , just up tyre profiles to close down arch gap then visually no difference
Seats , now these have to be Msport for me
Factor all the above & no way would I pay over Se money for a Sport spec car , jmo of course

And that why people like different things I guess

I wouldnt even entertain a blue SE Z4..its just not an attractive spec or combo to me.. When I had my eye on the market the dodgy colours sit longer or don't sell..

That's why the owner still has it despite dropping the sale price on it... If it hasn't gone in the next few weeks it will be at £8kin October....

Imho of course ...its just how I see it..

Didn't think blue would be any harder to sell than red :poke:

Considering DSB was the colour on all the litature which recently was retired as a colour on the E89 and they changed the litature from 2014 to Valencia Orange.

Clearly someone doesn't like blue here.

But if it was a M Sport with decent looking wheels it would have gone.

I have decided to give this one a miss, I do like the color and would definitely change the wheels but after much thinking I have decided to give it a miss as I am not sure i'd like the auto gearbox and obviously the miles (I wasn't too sure so wanted to have different views from the Z4 specialists and you guys confirmed my worries, so thank you all :)

I usually keep my cars for a year or two max and put on them between 15000/20000 miles a year so in two years time I would struggle to sell it even at half price !

For this kind of money (cash) I'd rather stretch it a bit further with a 1k or 2k loan and get something I really like - I have already made an offer on a 3.0L MANUAL (Fully loaded) which will need a bit of TLC but nothing major and with very low miles - my offer was like 2k below his asking price !!

I'll keep you updated 8)
