I nearly put this up for sale a couple of months back, I changed my mind after a debate with a few chaps on PistonHeads but I think I am now about there in terms of selling the car. I have popped a couple of chaps PMs about the car on here who are looking but thought I would also put out a post here.

Overview of the car
>Sapphire black 3.0si Sport, stamped service book (last service I did myself with documented evidence on a number of forums) and 71k miles on the clock, x2 keys and all official documentation with the car. It was produced in August 2008 and registered June 2009 so one of the last off the line. MOT runs till mid January 2024.
>Changed the valve cover and valvetronic motor gaskets and installed new boot lifters after the previous ones failed. Also changed the handbrake pads and kit
>108 alloys which need a refurb, but has a set of Michelin MPS4's all round which have around 3k miles on them
>Black leather seats, heated, electric with memory
>Business CD and basic hifi, I have installed a bluetooth dongle behind the head unit which gives you calls and music streaming
>Warning triangle, wheel tools, medikit under passenger seat all present. Rear parking sensors all working and Xenon headlights
>Have made a couple of cosmetic changes, ZHP M sport gear knob and matte black front grills, I have added spacers to the wheels also as well as changing all the blue triangles to black on the BMW logos (these can be simply peeled off if you dont like them)
>Does not have cruise or the popup satnav

General Comments
I have owned the car for around 14 months and have really enjoyed it, sang its praises on a few car forums (as Mr Tidy can testify to!) but I am someone that likes to try cars and have decided now is the time to try something else. The car pulls well in all gears and no issues with the gear change which is tight and smooth. The car has developed the infamous quiet knock on the diff which is apparently a case of changing the lubrication in the input flange. Bodywork is in very good condition (Im an enthusiastic amateur detailer and evidence can be seen on the links below) aside from a few very light scratch marks (which would be invisible on a silver car unfortunately black advertises any mark) and a circular impact mark on the rear bumper just below one of the parking sensors (about half the size of a penny). I have a vcheck report I can share with you I ran last year which shows a clean bill of health but by all means do one yourself. Have a set of Pagid front discs which I got on a deal recently and some replacement gearbox oil - I am happy to throw in the boot of the car for any sale.

I want to take some proper photos this weekend of the car from all angles etc. And will add them to this thread. I hope the following links are ok for now though.

Pictures and Threads
A thread I kept on here https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=137555
A thread showing my progress on PH, last page shows how I detail and look after the car https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=47&t=1974052&i=0
A quick walk around of the car (no filters) after detailing it

What I am after for it
I am looking for £12250. Would want any payments done direct to a bank account and cleared before the car is taken away. Not taking paypal or any other such payment method. V5C is present and correct. I am based in Twickenham south west london, easy access via M3 and A316. Happy to take you out for a drive, there are 20mph bumpy roads and a 50mph A road leading to the M3 which we can stretch the legs of the car etc.

Any questions please shout.

Cheers
Col

Wishing you all the best with the sale Colin.

It looks a lovely example I reckon, and I've enjoyed following your ownership experience with it on PistonHeads as well. :)

It will be a shame to lose a keen E86 owner, but GLWTS and whatever replaces it.

Thanks mate, I am one of these guys that loves to try out different stuff though!

A Z4R is a possible replacement along with a Boxster or a Megane RS so who knows!

Congrats on the sale, OP. Somebody got a lovely coupe there.
Whenever I see posts like this it always gets me thinking of renewed coupe ownership.
Must. Resist.

Cheers mate. Yes first person to see it bought it. Collecting it tomorrow.
He loved it. A proper car nut and very nice guy to boot. So Im happy its off to a good home.

Yep just under 2 weeks. Guy drove off a happy bunny.
And...for all the nonsense on the 'value of coupes' thread on PH it sold for more than they think these cars are worth :D

Got a few bits left over to sell now, original kidney grills, PDC unit, original gear knob. Will get a for sale ad up shortly.

Sorry for commenting on an old thread but I have just bought this car from a salvage auction with light damage. Looking to repair and keep it as it looks like a nicely kept car. Would be great to track down some service history as it came with nothing but the keys 🤞🏻

Welcome to the forum, and E86 ownership Paul.

I hope you got a good deal and can get it back to its' best without too much trouble, and hopefully coldel might have some details of history.

BTW we do like to see photos of new members' cars on here!

Oh no just seen this post :o

Guy only had a it a year, and its written off

I did hand over all the documentation at sale, but I *might* have photos of the service history etc. let me have a dig through the phone and come back to you.
