2009 BMW 2009 irritating clacking direction indicator noise

I love everything about my 2009 BMW Z4 35i, especially the 52,000kms on the clock!
The one thing that irritates the hell out of me when I'm driving is the loud clacking noise that comes from the direction indicators.
MY Mazda 6 is much more subtle!
So I thought of locating the module that makes the noise and wrapping something around it to dampen the sound a bit.
The problem is that when I listen to where the sound is coming from, it seems to be right behind the speedometer, which means taking the dashboard apart.
It annoys me so much I would do it, but I don't want to wreck my car!
Has anyone else looked into this?

Past the first flush of youth maybe. I noticed things beginning to slip a bit in my 70s. But I’m still here to annoy SWMBO and to enjoy my Z.

He obviously didn't get the memo. BMW DRIVERS DONT USE INDICATORS

I believe they are designed to be louder so that they are still clearly heard with the roof down.

I have to agree though they are a tad on the loud side.

the number means nothing if you are a fellow 35i owner, we will live forever (so long as we buy decent tyres).....

I have to agree with the OP the indicator tick is far louder than any of my other cars. Loser and a more annoying noise haha! Would be curious if you can dampen it or even change the tone...
