2009-2013 side marker lights upgradable to 2014-2016...?

Are the "older-style" white square side marker/turning signal lights on the 2009-2013 Z4 up-gradable to the new 2014-2016 ones...?

The older-style square one looked like it took up more room - and was concerned that there would be markings under it that would not be covered up by the newer-style.

Pretty much, I think later cars have LED halos but I am not sure.
The indicator upgrade is super easy, takes maybe 15-20 min tops. Once you pop the old ones out just wipe the paintwork underneath with a wet cloth before you pop the new ones in.
 
I have seen them replaced on Youtube and there was a reference to clipping a small plastic lug off the new lights because there isn't a hole for the lug in the body work of the older car. Other than that straight forward swap. From memory the lug is approx half way along the new light fitting and would simply act as a support for the longer extension piece. If you are concerned about rattling or similar then maybe a small piece of double sided tape will do the job.

Did those change in 2014 also...?

:rofl: I don't remember using any knife and just bent it back and forth a little and it broke clean off.
