2008 UK Service Cost

My dealer told me that the warranty will be honoured unless the dealer can prove without doubt that a fault is caused directly by lack of servicing or a sub standard part. I have never had my cars serviced at a dealer and I have never had a warranty issue despite all my modifications. You could be right about the trade in value but I never trade in anyway so it's not a concern for me.
 
Maybe but I wouldn't rely on that, when i bought the Z4 it was the 2nd car that I actually agreed a deal on,the 1st fell through because I had an interim oil service by my indy, they simply wouldn't touch my M3 and I had to go to great lengths to prove it was an actual interim rather than not messing up the BMW service history, nearly cost me 4k and i was nearly forced to go to the hassle of selling it privately, which I simply can't be arsed with
 
I've relied on that for years with both cars and never had a claim refused. Your trade in problems seem to be another good reason to stay away from main dealers. Like I said before I never trade in anyway. I prefer to take my time and sell privately, that way I seem to get my money's worth especially with a modified car. The other thing is that my next car ( dare I say it ) might not be a BMW. Selling privately gives me the option to look elsewhere. When I buy another car, paying cash tends to get me a better deal too.
