2008 Coupe - how to tell if SE or Sport

Trying to find out how visually to tell the diff between an SE and Sport...especially if SE may have the Msport pack, Msport seats/wheels etc. Should the V5 doc always state if it is an SE or Sport??? Or do I need to go to BMW and ask?? Notice that some 2008 SE gearnobs are silver/black....but then it may be an option etc.

I'm pretty sure everything could be bought as an option so you'd probably have a tough time if things have been changed from original.

I know the sports come with anthracite headlining as standard, the SE didn't - but it was an optional extra.

I also believe the suspension is stiffer on the sport - again it was an option on the SE. (sport = 15mm lower)

My V5 says sport on it, so I assume it'd say SE if it was an SE.

Checks just come back as SI Coupe....doesn't mention SE or Sport!!!

Have you run it through an insurance quote - they usually spot the difference. If you have the plate I'll see if I can find out. PM if you'd rather.

My original quote from the insurers said SE but phoned BMW with the plate / VIN & they confirmed it for me as a Sport.

BMW can only give the definative answer using the chassis number.

My car comes up as an SE when putting the registration through insurance quotes but BMW have confirmed that it is infact a Sport.

The headlining would be a good place to start IMO, then seats and steering wheel as these are all different in the SE and not as easy to swap as wheels. And not much point in buying an SE and spec'ing these as the cost would probably be very close to sport by then.
