Is anyone running this?

I was under the impression that it had 7 digit postcode entry but the upgrade I tried this week didn't have it?

I'm still astonished at how crap the mapping system is. Truly woeful

Yes - I am and it runs 5 digit postcode entry.

I find it perfectly adequate, but out of curiosity what do you consider makes it crap?

Most systems only run a 5 digit postcode, I have a Garmin and a tom tom (work ones`s)as well and the BMW one is great

5 pos post code + house number gets you straight there. The BMW is more accurate with that combination then when I use my TomTom

I have numerous issues finding addresses either via post code and address or just the roadname only.

Most roads around Sheffield just come up by road number. For example, the main road off my cul-de-sac, has been there all living memory - but just comes up as A6135, and not its proper name.

I've taken this up previously with BMW - what annoys me is the system is provided via Navteq. Who also do the free google maps data (on mobiles anyway). Success rate via Google Maps - 100%. Via BMW nav - about 40%. Seriously.

I love the integration but the mapping data is shocking. My previous tom tom 700 was far superior.

OK I can understand that if you cannot find certain addresses, which has never happened to me, aside from when a local A road was rerouted and it took a year to get onto their maps.

For my part I think it's an excellent system. quick to use and load, 3D perspective, postcode search and national street name. Huge amounts of information in the database. I also like the integration of screen, voice and TMC. Most I loathe windscreen sucker based systems, although I have sat nav in my phone and PDA and use in other cars.

What gets me is that I was told to report the missing addresses which I did in March last year. I've also read on the X5 forum that a user on there reported some in 2003, and they've still not been added even after numerous reminders.

I probably wouldn't be as fussed if you didn't have to pay to upgrade also (although I'm entitled to my first one free and rejected the 2007-2 system), but just find it astonishing that well established roads are not on. I've searched many places for work, including Milton Keynes, Lincoln, and around the Yorkshire area and as I say, the success rate has been poor.

I do agree on the window systems - thats why I always wanted the Nav system

how much is the 2008 disk?
I think the upgrade is £99

yes it is a £99 upgrade if you trade in your old disc !!

if its not much better i will probably give it a miss, i've not been particulary happy with the current system... sure glad i never paid the £1200 it was new!
my street doesn't have house numbers on it only junction names, i've found this to be a common issue when i've used it.. in north wales it was a waste of time!

as stated above my old Tom Tom on my nokia was far superior :headbang:

how to you qualify for the free upgrade out of interest?
