Was interesting to see how the Zed compares to some other cars! A while back I was considering something perhaps a little more economical/practical for our second car so 3 and 6 Series fits the build but with new rules for diesel cars I’m shying away from them. Just could so without the extra hasstle. So wipes the 6 off the cards now...

Good to know the Zed can keep up with newer cars! And offers a great car at good value.

My fiesta got rekd by an 04 plate 645ci. I thought they were tanks...But Jesus it flew off. Not bad for a giant 14 year old motor.

Guess one thing to bear in mind is the 630i started at £50k! I'd expect higher models to be pretty ballistic for that kind of cheese.

I’ve got a Z4 2.5i and a 640d Gran Coupe. I’m pretty confident that the 6 is a much faster car in a straight line. One thing I would say about the 6 is that it’s diffcult to get off the line quickly. Ideally you need to flick the paddles to put it into 2nd and even then get a bit of a rolling start. Try and floor it and you’ll just get the DSC taking over. Once it’s got going however it’s very rapid.

Also the car is a very different beast depending on whether it’s in eco, comfort or sport mode.
The power output isn’t altered, but where the car sits in the rev range and how much the revs increase for a given amount of travel on the accelerator is altered between settings. Eco is flat as a fart, comfort not too bad, sport puts you exactly where you need to be in the rev range, 30 to what ever speed you want just seems relentless.

I’ve got about 3k on the kit now and it feels great. Power delivery makes it feel as it should’ve from the start I wish I had done it much sooner but my bank account didn’t agree then either. Even after, the wife didn’t agree and I briefly got locked out of the house lol. Told her I was getting a lsd but hadn’t mentioned the ess delivery I still had my keys in my hand so it was a very brief lock out but she hasn’t complained about how it drives one bit.

IMO the 640D wasn’t trying. It has vastly more torque and a few more to overcome its weight. You’re not driving a slow car either though.
