2007 E86 Z4

Hi all,

I'm selling my Z4 due to a family bereavement. It used to be my Dad's car, and I would have liked to keep it as I feel that's what he would have wanted. However that's not an option due to the current climate/my own status, so I am listing it for sale. I feel that a good alternative would be a sale to a z4 enthusiast who will look after the car well - why is why I am posting here!

I wont bother wasting your time by pasting the same pictures into the thread here - I can of course take more photos if anyone would like them.

I know that saying a car has not been driven hard/abused is a bit of a car selling cliché, but it has spent the last 10 years being owned by a man in his late 60s who enjoyed the car, but I can honestly say it was never ragged in between traffic lights or anything like that.

It does not have a full BMW service history (Dad didn't quite understand getting stamps in the book!), but I do have a stack full of receipts showing work done, and it really has been looked after. It did 22,000 miles during its first couple of years/owners, and then has averaged only 4,000 per year for the last decade. I took it to an independent BMW specialist at the end of March who gave it a full service and was complementary about the state of the car. Since then it has covered a bit less than 500 miles. It is completely stock/unmodified (apart from adding an aux cable), with the original alloys and so on. It is on run flats which have a fair amount of tread left, so I have not felt the need to change them, but I'm aware that run flats are not the most popular on these cars, so I probably would have swapped them out had they needed replacing anyway. There is some wear and tear such as alloy kerbing, a few stone chips/blemishes and a bit of wear on one of the drivers seat bolsters, but there's no major cosmetic damage of any sort. The place I had it serviced recommended some new brake pads in the next 5000 miles or so (so I suppose 4500 miles now).

Hi Will, I'm sorry to read of the circumstances that led to you getting your Z4 Coupe. And it's a shame you aren't in a position to keep it as I am sure it would have felt special for you to drive it because of that connection.

I've had a dealer message me and offer to buy the car for £8200.

Have I priced it too high at £9400? I was hoping to get a fair bit more than £8200, plus I like the idea of it going directly to someone who will look after it! (which I know is silly but its how I feel), so I don't really think I should accept this offer.
 
Hi Will sorry to hear your news. I've been keeping an eye on prices as I'm looking at getting a e86, not dissimilar to yours. I think you are looking for a slightly high price, the mileage would support a higher than normal, but part history and the alloys looks like they've seen better days would need to be factored in. CD.
 
Prices seem to have firmed up significantly since lockdown ended so I think you could potentially do better than £8,200 selling privately, but it may take some time.

Maybe it depends whether you can/will wait.

Hi Will..
If you've had a dealer offer you £8.2k ( :? ) - as their initial offer, I think if I were you - with your personal situation, I'd swiftly go back to them & request, they kindly revise their offer to closer to £8.8k and meet you half way from their base offer to your, ideal figure..
Don't ask, don't get = simples :poke:

As for, Frustrated PH : Keep an eye on E86 prices and watch them carry on rising, is my humble suspicion.. :headbang:

Personally I think the dealer has made a good offer, taking into account the lack of service history. I would have thought retail for it would be around £10,290. I’m the surface it look likes a 2k profit but there will be prep costs plus take ( service MOT) possible other odd bits.
