Hi
My newly purchased car is teasing me.

I can't communicate with it via the OBD port. There is power in it. I've checked. And my OBD reader only works via electricity from the OBD plug.

My other protool with wifi adapter also lights up but can't communicate with the car. Anyone else with the same problem?

And could it be something with my GM5 module or does it have nothing to do with it. I think it's a bit defective because the central locking doesn't work from the key, the central locking only works with the key in the door.

Assuming wiring is good, I would say it's either something corrupting the kbus (gm5 is on this), or the instrument cluster (which is the diagnostic gateway) is at fault.

You can unplug stuff off the kbus to rule different components out, but there are other communication buses too, so it's possibly not the kbus.

Locations are different, but the system design is the same

This seems to something I have to look into to, thanks.

Good luck!

If it was my car, I'd be tempted to probably just buy another instrument cluster and swap it over and see if things sprang to life, as they're so cheap, and diagnostic time can quickly add up... I don't usually like firing the parts canon, but in this case, I'd give it a go, based on your description.

https://ebay.us/m/u2sV3y (I appreciate you're in Denmark, but an example of just how cheap they are - especially when you consider what an hour or two of your time is worth...)

Regarding the central locking , have you tried syncing the key to the car again?

Don't let these things take the shine off your new car - the great thing about these cars is that parts like this are cheap and plentiful!

Obscure long shot: When people started pinching keyless entry cars, getting them open and accessing the OBD port about 10 years ago, it became common for people to disconnect pins on the socket. It doesn't really apply to the E85 but might be worth a look behind the OBD socket to see if anyone's disconnected the K bus line or fitted a secret switch.

Okay, I have searched around a bit and found out that my K bus works, since everything in my instrument works. as well as the buttons on the steering wheel, etc. and also got a hole through from my OBD tester to the instrument cluster and could see live data. so it is my D bus that is not working. can anyone provide input? I have tried removing the GM5 module and the instrument but no difference. can it be suitable for the D bus to go directly to the DME/engine control?
