2007 business cd player?

I just bought my 2007 Z4 3.0i recently and the previous owner installed a Kenwood stereo.
I want to go back to the OEM radio but don't know which the car had originally.
I would prefer to have one that plays MP3's if possible.
When I check with a VIN decoder it shows "662 Radio Bmw Business Cd"
I have the 10 speaker package.
Luckily they didn't cut the OEM BMW plug during the install.

I would also like to install the aux setup shown in the photo if it isn't a nightmare to do.
There is already a hole there in the removable panel below the air conditioning and I assume the aux outlet may have came in my car.
Does that need a certain stereo that has the hookup?

Anyone have the same car and can tell me what stereo I need or you have in yours?
Thanks

Can’t help with your question I’m afraid, but I do have a business head unit in back I. Excellent condition for sale :)

I may be wrong, but I believe the the facelift cars came with a business stereo that played MP3 CDs. Pre-face did not support them.

The facelift cars did come with a black stereo which can play MP3-CDs. The grey stereo in pre-facelift cars can not play MP3-CDs.
I think cars manufactured from mid 2006 had AUX input. Mine was manufactured in late October 2006 and has AUX factory equipped. I have the same options as you; S662A Radio BMW Business CD and S676A HiFi speaker system.

Does it have a black or gray faceplate?

Mine was manufactured in March of 2007. So that would be the facelifted version correct? The previous owner has changed several things on my car and I am getting confused as to what came on it and what he changed out. Ugh. I like options but I can do without the aux input. I see alot of BMW Business CD units on Ebay but its rather hard to tell if they are gray or black....and then if they even work.

Any chance you could snap a pics of your stereo?

My Coupe was built in August 2006 and didn't have the Aux-in, but luckily a previous owner retro-fitted one. :D

It just took me a while to find it as the socket is in the glovebox!

That's cool that you have the AUX input. That seems like a good place for one.
I think mine may have come stock with one since there is an opening (cutout) under my climate controls.
The owners manual shows one in that exact place too.

Yes, that is where BMW put it. My 1st Coupe was built in October 2006 and it had one there.

OK found this on eBay but it says it plays MP3s but is NOT compatible with HD radio.

How do I tell if mine has/had HD radio? Or is that even an issue? :?

There will be a nice Kenwood (KDC BT772HD) up for sale as soon as I get a good working Business CD player installed.

It has about everything....BT, USB inputs, AUX inputs, and a mic. No remote included.

It's a great sounding unit I just prefer the OEM sound and look, but my main issue is my steering wheel controls don't work with it.

And I really love that feature on my other BMWs!!!!

But maybe only half wrong, my satnav radio does. Maybe the pov spec don't though.. :
I remember my 1999 5 series playing mp3 and my 2006 3 series playing mp3s too

I fully understand your point of view - I retained the Business CD unit, and added a hardwired Pure DAB unit foregoing the bluetooth option. But my son has swapped to a Kenwood, which works fine for him (though he's keeping the OEM unit for return to stock setup on future sale of car).
But if your main issue is the steering wheel controls, then I would think that isn't a problem and the previous owner has just fitted the incorrect adapter harness - there's a simple adapter harness that will fit between the car's harness and the Kenwood and will mean you have full use of the MFSW controls. I think the one we bought was from Dynamic Sounds - they do loads, just phone them and tell them exactly what you want it for. Dead simple plug and play for £18
Also, there are more attractive facia trims than the one in your photo - where the Kenwood won't stick out like that.

PS - the black OEM units are fully black. You can tell the grey ones because of the colour difference between the face and the knobs/buttons which are black.

OK thanks for all the great info. I'll check if the PO just didn't hook something up or got the wrong adapter harness.
I really love the steering wheel controls on my other BMWs!!! And the Kenwood unit does stick out a bit.
If I could remove both of those issues I might keep this stereo.

IDK The classy OEM sophisticated look of the BCDP looks so good.

I looked at that website but not sure what "Steering Control Stalk Adaptor" means.

BTW I am in USA.

I agree, in my opinion the OEM unit looks better - it should do of course. But a different fascia addapter would help improve your existing appearance. This is the one in my son's car, which is slightly recessed rather than sticking out -

And this is the adapter harness he got, that works with steering wheel controls -

I guess you'd have to email them to see if they'd send to the US, if there's nothing available stateside.

Anyway, it's good to have some more members from outside the UK - did you post photos of your pride and joy?

Yes that looks much better. I have emailed them about the adapter and mount.

No I don't think I have posted my Z4 yet. Thanks for the welcome. Most on here have been nice to me so far.

I look forward to my work in progress moving forward. The top getting aligned is my main priority at the moment tho.

Cheers
