Hi Guys,

After some help, I’m new here.

Prices seem to be all over the place and I’m trying to work out if I’m paying over the odds or not.

I’ve found a 2007(57) Z4 2.5 si SE with 60,000 miles, full service history and really is in mint condition.

The seller wants £7000 for it, is that the right kind of money?
 
I would suggest the seller is asking very strong money. Take a grand off it and you are probably in the right territory.
 
I have a 3.0si for sale.
Jap import 59 plate, excellent condition.
100k Miles
Will beat that price and then some.
 
if the car is really nice and is what you want, then why not pay for it? I maybe above market price but you could buy one that is cheaper and end up spending money getting it in a similar condition to the one that was higher priced! if time you are in no rush it may be worth waiting to see what else comes up
 
Has it had a full suspension refresh? At this age, even with only 60k on the clock, the shocks will be shot - loads of evidence to support this in the E85 section of the forum.

If the answer to the above is no, you want to factor in the cost of doing so... can you do the spanner work yourself? If not, when you start adding in new top mounts, labour etc it adds up. Your £7k car starts to creep towards £8k...

Has the water pump been replaced? It will fail at some point... etc, etc.

When was the last inspection 2?

£7k can buy you an awful lot of E85 if you’re patient. Prices have risen, but come spring you’ll have a lot more choice.

Many forum cars that get listed have had suspension refreshes etc, saving you money... bide your time
 
It’s fantastic condition, the thing that has put me off is when checking the price on webuyanycar and hpivaluations is coming out at £2550 trade in

If it’s clean, looked after and what you want it’s up to you if you want to pay over the odds for it.

You might not get a grand off it but £500 may be achievable. It also will come with a warranty to iron out any issues you find after you get it.

With all these cars condition and spec is what you buy on.

As for your valuations they’re giving that on a generic car going by number plate, not what’s standing in front of them. It could be an absolute sh!tbox or mint those sites are pretty well going to give the same online valuations give or take a few hundred pounds.

The way to look at that for me is have you ever seen one similar at £3500-£4000 because that would reflect the approx retail based on those valuations
 
got a link easier? to see if its worthwhile paying top dollar that way? 7k for a 2.5si 57 plate at a dealer is a little salty, you're right about the trade in price too, chances are he's not paid much more than 3k for that so he's looking at an impressive mark up.

All said, if its a mint car that's fully loaded with all the toys, unmarked wheels with virtually new tyres and a great service history requiring no spend in the near future then it could be worth 6.5k to you, only you can decide that though, personally i wouldn't spend that, there's been a few e89s coming up lately with the 2.5si engine around the 7k mark and in terms of value for money then it would be a much wiser move
 
No heated seats in a uk roadster.. no thanks, manual seats too, no cruise, no nav, no parking sensors, hasnt even got a factory wind deflector, poverty spec mate.. Id forget it, you can do a lot better for 7k
 
I have only quickly scanned the photos but the spec is not great. No heated seats, parking sensors, xenons or multi function steering wheel. The wind deflector is gimp style. To much money imo.

As an example 7k could buy you a lovely e89 right here, looks like 7k a lot better spent in my book

+1, nice looking car but no heated seats :thumbsdown:
 
I thought it was that one 😀

Rare colour and M Seats + mileage the only positives. It’s too expensive and no heated seats is a deal killer. In winter with the roof down you need them! Manual seats, no multi function wheel...

Prices have risen but not that much. I’d hold out for a better specification - fine to pay top dollar if it’s a rare, top dollar car
