I have a replacement headlight (bi xenon) arriving this week for the coupe. Is it necessary to disconnect the battery before removal and fitting?

Personally I'm not sure that you need to, if engine is off then all should be okay, but then I'm no expert. Why not err on the side of caution?

It was directed at no one in particular, just wanting to make sure I didn’t cause myself any additional problems/expense.

I tested out the one I bought online also and unhooked the battery beforehand.
BMW put a warning sticker on the car so I'd assume its very possible to get electrocuted by accident.
