2006 Z4 Oil Top-Up Frequency

Hi all,

It's been a while since I was on the forums so Merry Christmas to you all!

I've had my Z4 since April. It's a 2006 2.5l model.

I've just had to top up the oil for the second time. The first time was in June, and now again in December. Is this level of oil usage normal or does something need looking at? The car has been serviced by BMW garages for all it's life according to the records.

I don't particularly thrash it about and I use it on a daily basis.

Also, slightly off-topic, I hadn't used the car for about 4 days and this morning it reeeeeally struggled to start. Took 3 attempts to start the engine. Again, is this normal behaviour? It's not been particularly cold here - about 5-10 degrees daily.

Edit: With regards to starting the engine, the oil level was low and there is very little petrol in it at the moment.
 
How many miles? Total and between fills?

Oil and fuel levels wouldn't affect starting, but if you're losing compression for the same reason you're burning oil, that would be a big factor.
 
I think that level of oil usage is normal (mine sacrifices about 2L/year to the Engine God) but not starting first time is definitely not!
