Are there any guides for replacing the ccv system? I've had the parts required to replace it in my shed for a year and still haven't got around to doing it
I seem to remember watching Nathans DIY channel on youtube.
I ended up just yanking out the old bits as they just crumbled they were so brittle.
Replacing the kit was a tw@t of a job as you have to do a lot of contortion to get all the tubes in place. I think I also loosened the intake manifold slightly to get the top section mated in.
Make sure you swap in a new dipstick tube gasket.
Been trouble-free ever since.
I think the majority of issues and failures are caused by owners who use their cars for short journeys, not allowing for the condensation to evaporate off and clogging up the system.

Thanks for the advice  I'll have a look at that YouTube video for guidance. My car doesn't really do short journeys, but after 135k miles and white smoke coming out of the exhaust sometimes, I think it's definitely time for a replacement ccv  will have to find a free weekend where I can mess about with it all.

It's not a step-by-step guide, more of a write-up but maybe there's some useful info in this gargantuan thread of my new ownership shennanigans from way back when...lol

So far so good, but only noticed it recently in the mornings as they’ve got cooler, when stuck in traffic, so will report back tomorrow 👍

Still getting puffs of white, seemed less though, idle is fairly solid, very slight fluctuations, when warming up.

Like I say, only noticed it as weather has cooled, was 10 degrees this morning and many other cars puffing out too !

It needed doing anyways as plenty of sludge in the old pipes and ccv

Sounds like mine would benefit too, regardless of whether it's the cause of the smoke/idle fluctuation. I'll add to the (ever growing) list of jobs that aren't urgent but for my peace of mind will get done sooner rather than later
