Any tips on changing the CCV on my 06 Coupe?

It’s clogged up, so ordering a kit with all the pipes. I can see it between 5&6 under the intake. Has anyone managed it without removing the intake ?

👍

Easy enough without removing the intake, as the old pipes just crack once you touch them :P
I did remove the intake, since I bought a cold weather version, which is slightly harder to fit.

Only real benefit is that you can check all the vacuum port caps on the intake.

I’m getting a fair bit of white smoke on tickover in the mornings, got the parts now so plan to do it on Sunday

If it's of any significance, I replaced my CCv system with the 'cold weather' version.
It basically has more insultation. Was a bit of a pig to replace with the existing syem but has proved faultless in operation since.

Isn't the cold weather version the one, which caught fire somewhere and was recalled in North America?

Are there any guides for replacing the ccv system? I've had the parts required to replace it in my shed for a year and still haven't got around to doing it

Is the smoke the only symptom or do you experience a rough/slightly fluctuating idle as well, especially on start up?

Yeah only when cold very slight fluctuations, not really rough idle though
Yes, sounds the same as mine. Doesn't really affect the running of the car, but seeing those slight fluctuations and the white smoke isn't ideal. Will be really interested to see if this fixes it for you

I don't think so. The only difference is that the insulation surrounding some of the tubes is slightly thicker.
Can't see how that would make it more susceptible to combustion/fire.

I seem to remember watching Nathans DIY channel on youtube.
I ended up just yanking out the old bits as they just crumbled they were so brittle.
Replacing the kit was a tw@t of a job as you have to do a lot of contortion to get all the tubes in place. I think I also loosened the intake manifold slightly to get the top section mated in.
Make sure you swap in a new dipstick tube gasket.
Been trouble-free ever since.
I think the majority of issues and failures are caused by owners who use their cars for short journeys, not allowing for the condensation to evaporate off and clogging up the system.

There’s a cold climate version which is electrically heated, those are the ones contributing to global warming :P

Thanks for the advice  I'll have a look at that YouTube video for guidance. My car doesn't really do short journeys, but after 135k miles and white smoke coming out of the exhaust sometimes, I think it's definitely time for a replacement ccv  will have to find a free weekend where I can mess about with it all.

Yeah it’s a proper fiddly job, I didn’t expect the Ccv and 2 of the pipes to have a small wiring loom, is it the heated version on n52 ?
