Hi everyone.

Last weekend I picked up a 3.0Si Sport auto in Monaco Blue. It seems a very tidy car with just under 50k miles on the clock, just serviced with 12 months warranty and as new runflats.

It will be used as a part-time commuter car (aiming to keep the mileage down to around 6k per year) plus weekend tourer.

This is my second BMW, the first was an E34 M5 which I ran as a daily for five years back in the late 90's and which is still fondly remembered. I'm surprised it has taken so long to have another BMW but mortgages, marriage and life in general sometimes gets in the way I suppose...

The E86 joins a fairly eclectic collection of motors including a Vauxhall Monaro, a 1966 Chevrolet El Camino, a couple of old Saabs and a Skoda estate that just refuses to die!!

I mostly do my own maintenance and restoration work, although I will be keeping the service stamps up to date on the E86 to try to help preserve it's value to some extent.

I would be interested in suggestions as to which software would be recommended to purchase for the E86? I would want to be able to check and clear codes and change a few "dealer only" settings such as auto locking and probably enabling cruise, which I hope to retro-fit at some point.

Anyway, enough waffle, a few pictures (a couple from the dealers advert as the weather has been too lousy to take many), although you probably know what these look like already!!

Good choice sir ! Lovely looking motor :-)

PS no coding required for the cruise control, although BMW may tell you otherwise.

Thanks for the welcomes and for that link, their pricing seems pretty good.

No, I didn't pay £15k or anywhere near that figure, but considering I initially went shopping for a small economical commuter car with a slightly sporty edge (think Swift Sport or similar) for about £6k, it's fair to say I blew my budget!! Definitely worth it though! :D

Oh yes, there is also a '67 Camaro RS/SS lurking at my parents place, which I saved from the scrap man after the messy divorce of a friend. It is completely stripped as it was in mid-restoration at the time, but one day, with time, effort and no small amount of money, it might look like this one...
