Where can I get hold of ‘Mike’?
I’m interested to know more about the ‘softer’ sounding mod.
Is generally quieter?
What I’d really like is something that had a valve to alternate between a standard sound and a more open one.

Mike is in the north west near M6/M62; he's fallen out of favour with the powers that be on this forum (long story), but a lot of forum members are very happy with him. He has a presence on facebook (zed shed) and is on 07973 540495.

The softer sounding mod is simply not as modded as a full mod
You still get more growl and volume than a standard box, with overun pops, but at a more subdued level that in my opinion is wholly acceptable and a world away from the boy racers in their civics and ST fords, and nothing like a back box delete.

Switcheable valve? I'd say that was wishful thinking...

:lol: I'm older now and I never did a backbox delete on my Z4 (even though I came very close to!). I *always* wanted to do it. I just couldn't risk getting an angry neighbor dig their keys right into my paint because I would sometimes arrive home late after midnight. I know what it's like for a neighbor to have a noisy car and it's not fun at all, especially a cold start.

All these years have passed and I'm glad I didn't do it now. It's super nice to just drive somewhere and not have it drone or wake up the whole neighborhood.

I can make the car burble and pop with the stock exhaust too! You just have to blip the throttle around 3,000rpms (and I mean lightly tap) and you get your burbles!
