2006 E85 2.5L White Smoke

Hello,

I am worried about the smoke that my E85 produces when on idle.
After it has been driven for 5 minutes, a lot of white smoke comes out of the tailpipe with a heavy smell of burnt oil.
Whilst driving or on the motorway I can't see any smoke or smell anything, but as soon as I stop, the oil "cloud" can be seen for a while.
The strange thing is, that sometimes it does not happen. Thinking about it, perhaps I see less smoke if the clutch is depressed.
The motor runs fine, no rough idle, no strange noises or rattles. The temperature stays in the middle, etc.
It is consuming about one litre of oil per 500 miles.

Does anyone have any idea of what it could be?

Thanks!!!!

Hi, if it’s a white cloud it’s more than likely condensation-the oil burning doesn’t usually show out the pipes but is commonly caused by a banjaxed ccv system.
Operating the clutch pedal has nothing to do with this, or the price of fish

Wow ! One litre per 500 miles ? :o I'd be worried if that was mine. Burning oil smoke from the exhaust is usually blue'ish in colour. Steam/condensation is white.
Are you sure you don't have an oil leak in the engine bay that is burning off on the engine/manifold/exhaust and blowing back under the car ?

I was of the opinion that white smoke from the exhaust, with a hint of oil thrown in was a sign of a failing head gasket. Hope that is not it. But get it checked out soon or you could do some serious damage.

Won’t be head gasket. Bunged up CCV for sure (crankcase ventilation valve). There will be oil in the inlet tract.
