2006 BMW Z4 (E85) – Titan Silver – 78,434 miles – £9,500 (based Lincoln)

Hi all – hope you're well!

I joined this community in 2022 hunting for an E85 Z4 as a weekend toy for my 40th, hoping my son and I could enjoy it together. He never quite caught the bug, and these days the car barely gets driven — it genuinely bothers me seeing such a mint example sitting idle. Time to pass her on to someone who'll actually get out and enjoy her.

Bought from 'Dave1971' in this group, previously owned by 'Stupot'.

History & Ownership

- 2006, Titan Silver
- 78,434 miles (77k when I bought it in April 2022)
- ~2,000 miles covered in my 4 years of ownership

Service History
Serviced at 14,556 / 32,719 / 49,512 / 66,147 / 69,608 / 78,214 miles. Inspection II carried out in 2024 by a local BMW specialist (under 500 miles ago) — car was praised as the best "older" Z they'd seen.

Key Work Done

- New water pump fitted as a precaution (prevents the common failure risk)
- Roof motor relocated to the boot (eliminates flooding/failure risk)
- Koni Sport adjustable dampers + Eibach Sport springs (springs replaced ~5 years ago, under previous ownership)
- CSL replica wheels, refurbished a few thousand miles ago — unmarked
- New Vredestein rear tyres fitted at the same time; fronts have ~5mm remaining
- New battery purchased (2026), ready to fit

Specification

- Satnav
- Cruise control
- Electric heated M-Sport seats
- Wind deflector
- Cup holders
- Auto wipers
- Piano black interior
- Auto lights
- Multi-function steering wheel
- Auto-dimming rear-view mirror
- Xenon headlights
- Stubby aerial (whip aerial included)

Extras

- Gaptech roof module (one-touch roof operation)
- Grom Bluetooth module (phone/music streaming)
- Steering wheel retrimmed by Royal

Documentation
Full stamped service book, A4 folder of receipts (tyres, wipers, bulbs, filters etc.), MOT certificates dating back to 2010 at 32k miles.

Price
£9,500 — reflects the low mileage, fully documented history, and recent specialist Inspection II service.

It looks a lovely car and in my opinion the 3.0si is the sweet spot in the E85 range. Loads of options which make it very desirable, perhaps edit in your location for those that may be interested. GLWTS 👍🏼

I was going to say I’m surprised I’ve not seen it about in Lincoln. But it’s hardly been on the roads 🤣🤣

Great looking car good luck with sale

The car looks great but only 1 picture and the link to the original pictures are now 4 years old , do you have any more recent pics ?

After the recent sales comments on another thread I’m happy to delete if this causes offence / issues but why is the car more than the original sale price when it’s 4 years older and another owner on the paperwork . Are the 3.0 si’s appreciating ?

If there is reasonable movement in the price I am interested and in a position to buy ( and you’re not too far away as everything else I like is London or Scotland )

Thanks

Hi, @Marc r - thanks for the detailed questions — happy to answer.

Recent pics: Fair point — I don't have many recent photos as the car's been sitting more than being driven. I'll get some fresh ones taken and post them here shortly.

Price vs original sale: Yes, it's listed about £500 more than I paid four years ago despite the extra mileage and another name on the logbook. I've done some research (including checking recent sold prices) and, with the condition, full history, and the mods/upgrades on this car, I believe £9,500 is a fair reflection of where similar well-kept examples are sitting, rather than a reflection of general E85/3.0si appreciation specifically. Genuinely open to reasonable offers if you're serious.

Exhaust leak / corroded brake pipe: Not yet fixed — these came up as MOT advisories, and my mechanic's advice was that given how few miles I've been covering, it wasn't urgent to sort immediately. I will get both fixed before the car sells, so it'll be handed over with a clean bill of health and fresh MOT.

Honesty on usage: I only tax the car for 6 months over summer, and I haven't taxed it this year for the reasons in the ad. It's been sat in the garage since the last MOT, though I have started it and run it to temperature several times over the winter to keep things ticking over. The battery has since given up — I've got a new one ready but haven't fitted it yet, so the car isn't currently running.

To be clear on where things stand: the car isn't taxed or currently running until the battery's swapped in, and the two advisories above still need doing. I'm away next week, so I'll try to get it dropped at my mechanic to sort all of this while I'm out — battery fitted, advisories fixed, fresh MOT, and new photos — before any sale completes.

Happy to answer anything else in the meantime.
