The time has come – after much thought – to sell off my beloved Z4M. She’s a 56 plate 57k mile example in Sapphire black which has been faultless during my ownership other than the air bag light which was resolved by my local German specialist replacing the slip ring.
If you’re looking at this you will not be surprised that, sitting under it’s long sleek bonnet sits a behemoth 338bhp, 3.2-litre straight-six motor mated to the six speed box and running gear from the legendary M3 CSL. Still not convinced that the relentless animalistic nature of this little coupe is for you?
Standard specification is on a list as long as your arm including puncture warning system; rain sensor; auto headlight activation; electric heated and folding mirrors; electrically adjustable heated front seats - driver seat with memory; Xenon headlights with heated washer jets and includes auto range adjust and, not forgetting, the multi-function for steering wheel which enables you to control all the AV without taking your hands off the wheel.
But, for some people that’s not enough so this one had the following ‘options’ fitted at the factory:
- carbon leather interior
- satellite navigation
- phone prep
- extended Hi-Fi
- rear parking sensors
- heated seats
- cruise control
- tracker
- cup holders
In addition to the above Bavarin goodliness, since I've owned it I've fitted:
- obligatory stubby (still have whip)
- full rear tints
- M3 strut covers
- removed the CDV
- stubby ZHP gear knob
- rogue engineering Diablo exhausts (still have standards)
- LED number plate lights
- mudflaps (are a must if driving all year round!)
- sound proofed rear (no biggie but worth doing in my opinion)
- fully refurbed diamond cut E46 M3 19" rims (lush)
- new vanos filter
She was last serviced in April; MOT'd in May and has covered less than 1k miles since. The service book is all there and shows the following stamps:
Pre delivery @ Stephen James main dealer
1,114 miles @ Stephen James main dealer
10,227 @ Almondbury main dealer
21,881 @ John Clark main dealer
35,033 @ John Clark main dealer
44,660 @ Norwich sports and classics indi (that's who I bought it from)
56,434 @ Tidworth Motors (indi German specialist )
Now that I’ve wet your appetite, there are some bad points. While in great condition, she is not immaculate and does have marks in line with being used every day as the good Germans intended. The front bumper is stone chipped, the remainder of the bodywork does have some light marks and could do with a good cut and polish to make her gleam. Other than that, it is what it is, an aggressive little car that’ll genuinely scare the crap out of you and bring smiles to your face in equal measures.
In light of this, I’m looking for offers iro £14,000. There’s nothing else that’ll make you feel like this in this price bracket. Go on you know you want to!!!
