Update: No longer for sale, I've come to my senses and decided to keep her.

****

Not an easy decision to make but after six years of happy ownership it's time for me to scratch an itch that is owning a convertible. Children are on the horizon so if I don't make the switch now Mrs Thierry may not sign it off.

I'm based in Redhill, Surrey, and not interested in p/x. Please point out any information I miss in the advert, it's been a while since I last sold a car. Or pm me if you want to arrange a viewing or have any questions.

I'm looking for £8,500 £8,000.

• Registered 02/06/2006 (06 Reg)
• 83,800 Miles (approx.)
• MOT’ed untill 18/08/18, no advisories
• Metallic Silver Grey
• 3.0lt Straight 6 Cylinder Engine (265bhp)
• 6 Speed Manual Gearbox
• Sport Button
• M Sport Suspension
• Dream Red Leather Heated Electric M Sport Seats (Inc. 3 position memory on drivers seat)
• Aluminium Interior Trim
• Chunky M Sport Leather Multi-Function S/Wheel
• 18” MV2 Style Alloys (Staggered)
• BMW Professional Satellite Navigation
• BMW HiFi System Professional (10 Speakers) Inc. 6 CD Changer
• Bluetooth Phone Preparation
• Xenon Headlights Inc. Washers
• Automatic Air Conditioning
• Parking Distance Control (rear sensors)
• Automatic Lights
• Automatic Windscreen Wipers
• Extended Storage Pack
• Electrically Adjustable Heated Mirrors
• Auto dim interior mirror
• On-board Computer
• Remote Central Locking
• Hill Start Assist
• Stubby, ZHP gearknob and non-RF tyres

Car has full service history, by BMW up to 46k miles and by Independent's since. The last service was an Inspection I at 76k miles (Mar-2016) with brake fluid changed on 79k miles (Jan-17). OBC showing as 9,000 miles to next service, but I'll be putting it in for an oil service in the next few weeks. It has recent brake discs and pads all around, and alloys were refurbished last year (properly, not a smart repair).

Only bad points are that the front bumper has a car-park scratch and the nearside headlight is a bit cloudy (some water got in to the unit when I replaced the indicator bulb and didn't put the cover back on properly :headbang: ), shown in photos below. Otherwise I'd say it is in very good condition for an 11-year old 84k mile car.

I purchased the car from a forum member in Jan 2012, on 47k miles. I didn't think I'd ever own the same car for more than 3 years but it still feels special and makes me smile when I get in it. I might end up keeping her but thought I'd test the waters... hopefully it can give the next owner another six years of happy motoring :driving:

Engine bay photo to follow when I see daylight and it's not raining.

Car looks great OP.

I wish you had been selling last May when I bought my current one - I had to go to Rugby for mine! :(

Yours also seems to have every extra apart from cup-holders. :)

I can't see anything missing from your advert, although sometimes people like a bit more detail on servicing - you know, dates, mileage and what was done (oil service, Insp I, Insp II....).

GLWTS - I doubt it will take long.

Thanks Mr Tidy. Good point about the service history, I'll get that added. It does have cup-holders too, or at least one and a half cup holders.... I found them useless so when the arm broke no tears were shed. But yes, nice to have lots of optional extras... I think electric folding wing mirrors was the only one it's missing that would be useful. I believe it started life as a press demonstrator, hence the good spec list.

Hope you're still enjoying yours

nice car op...
nice pictures on your flick r page.. loved this

Thanks Andy... looking through that album makes me question why I'm selling it. We've been on some amazing road trips over the years.

I considered hiding some photos from that album (one from a trackday* and one with my bike on the back) but then I thought that's the appeal of this car... it's easy to live with and just as good at going for a b-road blast as it is for a week's holiday :driving:

* It's only done two trackdays in my ownership. You can probably tell from the line I've taken in the picture!

Thanks, still loving mine!

Just don't do what I did - I took a deposit on my first E86 in May 16, took it for a last drive and 2 days later was off to view my current one! :headbang: What was I thinking? :?

love the one with the bike on the back....
i was actually wondering if that was possible.... now you confirmed it is ... good work..

Bike racks, track days, snowy mountains, camping fields, North 500 run, shows how practical it is, nice pics.

It definitely offers practicality for a sports car. It's biggest result was getting all of the girlfriend's clothes and shoes in the boot for a week in France! If I move to an mx-5 (am I mad?!) I think the longest trip we'll be able to do is an over-nighter.

In answer to your question.. yes lol :P

Yes, you are barking - but if an MX-5 is what you want it's your choice!

The more I think about it the less it makes sense. I'd be entering a world of depreciation for a common, less powerful car with similar economy... and all for a c.£5k premium to get into a 2013 low mileage model. Yet I still want one, the mind works in funny ways :headbang:

Bump, still for sale.

Omg can't belive your serious!

I had the (dis) pleasure of driving my ex girlfriends mazda mx5 Kuro 2012 model. The z4 was light years away in terms of comfort handling and build quality. Your making a massive mistake.

Keep the Z4C. No depreciation any more, just routine maintenance costs. Then spend some of the 5K you save on a good low mileage E46 330i convertible to get that scratch itched and to give you a kid friendly car. And again no depreciation, just routine maintenance costs.

Maybe the standard setup isn't that good? I've only been in one that's had the geometry and suspension sorted and it felt perfect on country lanes, more poised than the zed. Fully appreciate the build quality won't be as good though, the zed hasn't missed a beat in the six years I've had it.

Hi there,

Please could you tell me if the Coupe is still available and also if it is where abouts are you.

With thanks and very best wishes

Hi Wayne,

Yes it's still for sale. I'm based in Redhill (Surrey) and around all weekend if you're local and want to view it.

Thanks,
Henry

I wish it had been for sale in May when I bought mine. :(

It's even pretty local to me - I was over in Worcester Park earlier at my Mum's!

Good luck with the sale Henry.
