2006 3.0i

I have a 2006 Z4 3.0i, and have been trying to remove the sound generator. From looking around, I have seen some people say that it does have one, and some say that it doesn't. Can someone please clarify for me?

Well my 2003 3.0i does so I would expect yours does too.

If you open the bonnet and look towards the right rear of the engine there should be a black plastic tube that goes into the bulkhead. The foam is in that tube but can be got at inside, from behind the glovebox if I remember correctly.

My 09/2005 3.0i has the Sound Generator just as in the picture above. I removed the large piece of foam, for added aural drama.

Thats what I first looked at, and I can't find the right tube that goes into the bulkhead. Its as if its not there!

Looks like yours missing :? All 3.0i models should have them

I just read a post on bimmerpost where chap removed the sound generator cos his wife thought it was too loud :?
