2006 2.5si sport tyres

Recently purchased a 2006 2.5si Sport that has 225/40 ZR18 all-round. Should these be ok ? I only ask as many say the rears should be wider. If 225/40 is Ok then I will leave well alone.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I'm pretty sure that all the 18" OE wheel options (107s, 108s, MV2s, etc.) for E85/86s were staggered, with 8J front wheels and 8.5J rears. Tyres were 225/40 front and 225/35 on the rear.

But if your car has some aftermarket wheels they may well all be the same width. I've had a set of replica 18" CSLs and MV2s that were all 8J so you need to identify what wheels you've got. If you aren't sure someone on here may be able to help if you post a photo or two.

Should be 255/35 R 18 on the rear

It won’t hurt to run a square set (all the 17s are square). Are all the wheels 8J or are the tyres on the back stretched across an 8.5J as it would be if you’re running a staggered set?
