2005 Z$ wiring schematic

This link below works best in IE (unfortunately). You need the Adobe SVG plugin to view some of the diagrams.
BMW WDS - Wiring Diagram System

I also have an offline version as part of the TIS package I bought, works a little better, if you need to study something in details I'd advise buying this.

There are a few more links on here - the reference documentation is quite useful too and there is a link to an online TIS, which has most of the content you'd need - handy as it shows you how to dismantle the car to get to the wires.
PDF Owner's Manuals, Retrofit Instructions and Links

What are you planning? If it's not top secret

Thanks for the links. I didn't have much luck with them though. Actually, I'm sure I'll be able to find the wires I need, just thought it would be quicker if I had a schematic.
What am I planning?.........Well it is top secret but I'm sure you won't tell anyone...so, I just made a windblocker and I'm putting a couple LEDs in the bottom of it. I'm having a sign company (a friend of mine works there)route a Z4 logo in it so that when I hit the brake the Z4 logo will also light.

Okay, slightly misunderstood what you needed. You're probably better off looking through the TIS, although probably as quick to strip out the boot and follow the wires back.

If it's for advertising, would you not want it always on?

Interesting project. Only trouble having a car with a logo in it... making sure you don't upset any other road users :driving:

I'd be interested to see how you get on - although be warned, this probably won't be to everyones' taste :o

Well I figure I've got three options. 1. Only have lit when driving lights are on. 2. Have lit with driving lights and then brighten with braking. 3. Only have lit with braking. I like the idea of the little surprise when braking and I'm not too interested in constantly looking through a lit Z4 logo while driving.
I'll for sure post some pics when I get it done. It's pretty much like the unit from "Roadster Solutions" but mine might be a little thicker (3/8")acrylic. Not sure how thick their's is.
