2005 (05) Z4 Roadster 3.0 - 80k miles

Hi All

Selling my beloved 3.0L Z4.
I bought the car a couple of years ago from another forum user and I had a lot of joy with it but decided I need something with a bit more space. So I've bought a 3-series and I'll be after something a bit cheaper to replace the Z4.

From buying it in August 2017, the car has since covered 13k miles in my ownership ( total of just over 80k miles, could go up as still being used), mainly weekend motorway miles (my commute consists of a 10 minute walk!)

It had in the last 5k miles
- new plugs
- new oil and filter (I will deliver the car with brand new oil and filter if asking price is met)
- New Tyres (Yokohama AD08R)
- New Discs and Pads (Brembo)
- New Dampers and Springs (Bilstein B12 kit)
- Airbag Module replaced
- New battery (halfords lifetime warranty)
- Front Lollipop bushes
- Front Anti-Roll-Bar links

The car is probably one of the highest spec'ed e85 Pre-FL you can find, having had M-sport suspension before the Bilsteins, Electric & heated M-Sport Seats, Gearknob and Multi-Function Steering Wheel. Car has a GROM Bluetooth adapter in the boot so you just pair with your phone using the CD-Changer input. Everything works as it should.

I went up north to have it seen/worked on by Andy Fanshawe (vague steering, he fixed it!) who said it was one of the best E85 PreFL he had seen recently

I am currently away with work but wanted to get the ball rolling in case someone is interested (I travel a lot with work, pretty much a week in, a week out, which is also contributing to the sale) so I have borrowed photos from the ad from 2 years ago when I bought the car (I hope the previous owner doesn't mind!) - condition is virtually the same now as it was 2y ago!

I've been told by the previous owner it's never been raced or tracked, which is also true for all of my ownership.

I have a pile of receipts both from myself and the previous owner.

MOT until October 2019 but I can take it to be MOT'd next weekend if full price is met.

I have spent over £3000 since buying the car (mostly due to needing tyres, brakes and wanting to upgrade to Bilsteins) and I would like to recover some of that investment

Location: North Oxfordshire
Plate GP05VGU for those interested in MOT history (2012 MOT has a typo, I have documentation to prove mileage)
Price £6500 ono

Please let me know if anyone has any questions

Thanks
Patrick

At £7,500, you won’t get a sniff.

It may be mint, but it’s at 80k miles, a pre facelift and the £3k that you've spent is mainly wear and tear items, it won’t add value, but help to sell, but not at £7.5k though.

These are great cars, but you could get a mint 2008 3.0 Si with low miles at that price, and there are E89’s for sale at that price.

Good luck though.

Mine sold quite quickly for 7k - similar miles, but was a 2008 3.0si with M Sports seats and some extra toys:

It is a beautiful looking thing and I think it deserves a little better but than half the asking price. I’d bang it up at £4,750 and see what response you get.

Surely you didn’t pay anything close to £7.5k for it in the first place?

sold my 2005 3.0 for 2300 not as well specced but 4750 is SI money.

£6k on oldish tyres, tired suspension and brakes which needed replacing soon-ish and that was 13k miles ago

I appreciate I shouldn't get back the money I put in it, but surely a car with recent (proper) tyres, (proper) suspension and brakes is worth more than £4k?

I know it’s depressing, but people won’t pay significantly above the going rate unless it really is something special. A cut above the rest.

I know I paid strong money for my 2.5 and have spent a bit improving it. I know very well though that if I did decide to sell I would not get back the price I paid and certainly not the value of the bits I’ve added or changed,

A trader near to me had a 05 3.0i on the forecourt last summer at over 7 grand. I drove past it every day and thought it was extremely over optimistic. Then it disappeared, so I did wonder if he’d eventually sold it. Then just this week it showed up again, on the same forecourt, priced slightly lower than last year, but still over £7k. It simply will not sell at that price.

Its quite a difficult one to price because unfortunately a lot of people don't take into account new parts that have been added.

It looks in excellent condition, high spec, has M sports seats, B12 suspension, disks pads etc. 80K mileage is lowish but not low.

I would pitch it at £4900.

£5,500 to £7K you are talking later model Si's

My 3.0 pre facelift I sold with Factory fitted optional M sport suspension, BBS 108’s, MFSW, M sport seats, upgraded DSP stereo, folding mirrors, gaptec, aeros with a complete Bilstein suspension refurb inc drop links & polybushing on 80k went for £6k in 2014

I tend to agree this is too strong money

Ok thanks all for the replies. I've lowered the price and will see if there is interest. I understand the market is lower for a standard z4 but the extras and condition should warrant the price. I'll leave it for a week here before going to the usual platforms. I'm not in a massive rush to sell but I wouldn't want to still have it come autumn as value/interest would normally decrease

I sold mine 3.0 with 65 k on the clock .It had z4m front,seats,wheels,s/wheel Areo side skirts for just under 6k.
A realistic price for yours would be around 5k.
