2004 E85 - Automatic transmission serial number to VIN number lookup?

I am about to swap tranny's on my 2004 E85 3.0i ... its a ZF 5HP-19 , and have a used tranny from an 05' , but unfortunately do not have the VIN of the car it came from... is there a way to reverse lookup the VIN using the serial number from the the 05' tranny? Also, would I be able to see it once installed using the diagnostic programs, I do have several of those available to me...thanks!

All my VIN decoder gave me was "Transmission:AUT"

Why do you think you need it? The 5hp boxes date back to the 90s; a time when software didn't get too much say in compatibility.

I was just interested in a little more of the history of the vehicle it came from...the salvage yard it came from quoted it only has 33K miles on it, with the VIN I might could validate that ... I have 90 days to return, so not an issue in that regard, just curiosity
