Right, I'll try and cover everything - I'm pretty sure Faz was a member on here, but I can't remember what he said his username was.

tl;dr at bottom - long story short, came off my motorbike, can't get in and out of it easily, knackered my ribs and back. Not going to be able to use it properly for a long time.

If you can find Faz's thread on here, you are better man than me.

For sale is my 2004 BMW Z4, with the 3 litre 6 cylinder engine, and 6 speed manual gearbox. First registered October 2004 - this would be on a 54 place, but it has a dateless plate fitted (worth £250) which is included in the sale. (This is a UK car, not a Northern Ireland car, just to clear up any confusion).

I purchased this recently from a friend of mine, who was moving to Dubai - his buyer pulled out with 48 hours left before his flight left - if Faz still comes on here you are welcome to ask him - I've known him for a fair few years, he even bought an old MX5 of mine probably 5 years ago...

The car is priced very cheaply - not because it is broken, or faulty, or I am trying to hide anything wrong with it - far from it. Test drives will be welcome (with me driving, unless you have taken out insurance to temporarily drive the car) and we can go for a nice long test drive, just to show the car is working exactly as it should. There is no clutch slip, the car simply has a few stone-chips and could ideally do with a new set of rear tyres in the next months.

Price is now lowered to the absolute minimum - this is not an 'offers' price now, it is a straight 'this is the price' deal. I won't accept any lower than this. Faz can confirm he didn't sell it to me on ebay, and I gave him a fair price for it. (I'm not making money on this, a long way from that).

I'll mention each part of the car in turn, to provide more information.

Engine/Gearbox:

With just under 123,000 miles on the clock, the engine runs smoothly, with a decent amount of power. The engine runs smoothly - it doesn't burn oil, leak water, or do anything it shouldn't. Is quiet when idling, and gives a nice roar when you put your foot down! Receipts show replacement oil seals on oil filter housing in June 2013.

Suspension/Steering:

Receipts show replacement lower arms fitted in June 2013. Steering is incredibly direct, it is as close to a go-kart as you can get! Suspension is firm, and works as it should. I wouldn't recommend this car for people with back problems, you can feel everything!

Brakes:

Receipts show a pretty much entire brake replacement in July 2015 - new handbrake lever, front pads, rear discs, and rear pads. Work great, stopping the car without any pull to the left or right. Handbrake holds the car solidly.

Bodywork:

In pretty good condition for the year. No large dents or scrapes anywhere around the car. A few small scuffs, passenger side front corner has a small scuff and there are some scratches by the filler flap. There are some stone-chips to the front of the car, most are on the very lowest lip spoiler under the front of the car, which is also scuffed (see images), with a small handful on the bonnet. I've made the car sound worse than it actually is - they aren't very noticeable and I decided to sell the car without doing any repairs myself, as I'm simply not a bodywork person! Receipts show a replacement wiper mechanism in April 2015. HID lights are fitted to the front.

I have replaced both of the rear covers to the front lights - the seals were worn and allowing misting up of the headlights - a common issue apparently.

The passenger window rattles a touch when going up or down - it all works perfectly, but I expect the window regulator has something rattling on it.

The whole car could really do with a good polishing session - the time simply isn't on my side to do this. The drain vents either side of the roof are clear.

The front windscreen was replaced in March 2015 via insurance and Autowindscreens.

Roof:

Electric roof works perfectly - and is in good condition - no holes! I have cleaned, treated, and re-waterproofed the roof, which makes it look fabulous - some of the Z4's I've seen have had almost green roofs!

Glass rear window is in undamaged condition, and is heated.

Wheels/Tyres:

The wheels are in alright overall condition - there is not too much kerbing around the edges - only a small amount on each front wheel. There is some corrosion around the centre caps of the wheels, which is normal for the age. The car could do with some new rear tyres at some point in the next few weeks/months of its life. All tyres are currently legal and full of air! I would say a full refurb would really set the car off nicely, although isn't really necessary.

The wheels are 18" alloys, rear tyre sizes are 255/35r18, and the fronts are 225/40r18. The front tyres are Pirelli, the rears are Falken on the offside, and Kumho on the nearside.

Budget rear tyres can be had for £56 each fitted, up to £100 for performance tyres.

Budget front tyres can be had for £46 each fitted, and £70 for performance tyres.

This means around £200 will get you a full set of brand new tyres, including fitting. Not bad!

The locking wheel nut key is present. There is also a spare wheel and tyre included in the sale - this is not a matching Alloy, it is considered a 'space saver' alloy, but is still quite large. The tyre on that wheel is in excellent condition, with lots of tread.

In my opinion, the car does tram-line a touch sometimes, but that is inevitable with very low profile tyres. It's rarely noticed, and is only on very poor condition roads. You can find smaller sized alloys on Ebay, and fit tyres with a larger sidewall to help deal with this.

Interior:

Now this is where the car is better than pretty much anything else at this price - Faz spent an awful lot of time and money on the interior - it has a full red leather interior, with matching re-trimmed gear lever gaitor, handbrake gaitor, and dash panel. Personally I think the dash-panel has a few wrinkles in it, but no-one else has really noticed it.

The car has electric memory seats. One thing of note is that the current seats are replacement seats due to the original seats being poorly looked after - the existing seats are not heated, however the 2 small heated seat buttons remain on the dash.

The factory CD player has been replaced with a high end Alpine unit - The head unit has a USB input hidden away in the glove box, it has been connected (at additional cost) to the steering wheel controls retaining all the original functions of the steering wheel buttons, it also has a high end bluetooth function which can take calls and even stream google navigation..

The original factory CD player is included in the sale.

The steering wheel has all the functions for adjusting the radio on the move.

I would recommend fitting a set of floor mats before doing too many miles in the car, to prevent it getting dirty!

Paperwork/History/Receipts/Keys:

There are receipts for some serious work to this car - These include:

Replacement roof motor in July 2014 - this is a £1000+ job, and is one less thing to worry about.

Full brake rebuilt and assorted works - in July 2015 - £1300

Full service, tyres, suspension and oil seal parts in June 2013 - £1927

Exhaust Manifold studs replacement - July 2014 - £200

Wiper linkage assembly April 2015 - £300

There are also at least 9 stamps in the service book, of which I have attached some pictures.

All the paperwork comes in the BMW wallet, with associated handbooks.

Needs an oil service in circa 3,000 miles.

The vehicle comes with 2 keys - one of which unfortunately has suffered water damage and doesn't work. I was recommended BMKeys to get another.

Collection is from Frimley, in Surrey. I am easy to reach from the M3, Junction 4, and the M4, Junction 10. I am close to the mainline station Farnborough, and am happy to pick people up from there is you'd like to get the train down to collect.

tl;dr: Car is a good cheap solid motor, perfect if you want a blank canvas to do what you want with. Needs tyres soon. I fell off a motorbike and can't use it without it hurting a lot.

Price is absolutely, 100%, the asking price. You are welcome to come offer me less, but I will politely decline.

I'll add some images.

Car looks fair , Advert looks honest :? no shortage of pics & cheap cash .
Can't expect much else for £3750 & certainly make a cheapo weekender with a few things "to do"
Faz ? This the one

Thats the one.

I've sorted the headlights out (very cloudy and the backs required replacing) and a few other small niggles.

The winning bidder on ebay pulled out because they didn't understand Faz's description with regards to SatNav - he mentioned you could get audio sat nav by streaming google maps via bluetooth.

Not being arsey & i appreciate its a cheap ask but if you show under bonnet pics at least give it a going over with the Mr Sheen

I think I would rather see the car cleaned up that looking like its been stored in a timber yard :poke:

With regards to the sports button - steering response and throttle response are improved, but I didn't think it stiffened the suspension up? Was it only on certain models?

I'm not 100% on the suspension, I took Faz's word for it. I may be wrong, in which case I'd best edit it. :)

I'll go give the engine bay a going over with some machine degreaser later.

Managed about 10 miles in it yesterday before the pain became unbearable. :(

Sport button doesn't touch suspension.
It only changes the steering and throttle response.

If you fancy swapping the rear lights before you sell give me a shout I'm in Surrey and would swap my original lights plus cash for yours :)

Nope if you want to make a bit extra and fancy helping me out I'd love to have them off of you.
