2004 2.5 SE Alcantara Steering Wheel Replacement

Hi All

I would really like to replace my current stock rather tatty and worn out 2.5SE 2004 Z4's Wheel with a nice flat bottom Alcan tara wheel. The existing is the stock round one, no buttons, worn out etc etc. So question is... does anyone have a recommended place to get one? Secondly are there any issues with the airbag for recoding etc etc. The stock has no electronics as far as I can see or buttons just the airbag.

Based in Devon, any advise or recommendations appreciated

:-)

reason I mention airbag is ive had a nighmare with airbag module being such an old car and really dont want to have to go down the road of recoding if possible

found this one, would this fit? mine doesnt have electric buttons but presumably can just leave that unplugged and swap over the airbag?

No one paying you much attention, sorry.
I would suggest you speak to Royals, who refurbish steering wheels to exact customer requirements. I'm not sure if they convert to flat bottom wheels though, if you're really sure you need that?
Trouble with buying off eBay is you can't be sure if it's been done properly or bodged and hidden under a new cover.
I think you'd be looking under £200 for Royals to do yours in Alcantara if you kept it round. They can do fancy stuff like colour coded stitching, contrasting band at the top etc.
You can swap over the airbag with no issues.
They do various options. Send yours and wait for it to come back, or they send you one already done, then you send yours back to them.
Have a search for threads about 'Royal' on here. You'll see some lovely examples.

I’m sure Peter’s flat bottom wheel was done by Royals

Hello and welcome

First page halfway down is the wheel I’m talking about. Is quoted as being a Royals wheel HTH

Perfect yea I've heard of royals, my local garage has a spare wheel as well so I will send it off then when its in for the windscreen seal, coolant bottle replacement and Map on the 14th. Thank you very much :-)

definitely is it for sale? will it fit the 2004 se without buttons without recoding just a straight swap?

Zoid I'm not selling. Just meant I bought one like this. If your interested I'd pass on the details. Normally, these sell for over £1,000 on sites like https://www.realcarbontastic.com/
Or https://shopaskcarbon.com/?fbclid=PAAaYAwS0BQZuzx1QnhyJilggNOmLWX6XhuPqYTEHfKtNwfWAmcJ6kVjW9Xu8

But I got it from their supplier.

ordered a retrimmed one today, should be a lot better than the old tatty one, and hopefully not as slippery :-)
