2003 z4 roof issue

Roof not working. Checked the 3 fuses relating to roof. All ok. I have no flashing lights on the roof control buttons. No motors at all are working, windows not dropping. If I run my impa software the car can see the button press for both roof up and down. I had 2 errors stored in there for the roof but I don't have a date stamp on them so not sure if they are related or not, but could be. I have error 67 arrester hook drive: open load when releasing. And error 68 arrester hook drive: open load when bolting. Ive got a feeling I have a broken wire as this stopped working a while back when I was testing the roof for something else. Opened and closed it several times on the trot and that is when it went. I guess open load could mean open circuit. I did find a post on here about how to trace the wires along the inside of the roof above the window opening but I cannot for the life of me find it now. Any help ideas appreciate.

If the motor was dead I think you'd expect it to at least unlock from the front and then get a red flashing light.
Could well be a broken wire as you suggest.

Just one other thing to check:
Do a reset on the windows. I know it sounds daft, but if the roof doesn't know where the windows are it'll do nothing.
I had exactly that with the roof down after taking seats out. Black clouds looming and no roof movement. Window reset and all was good.

Cheers. Really should have included that

Thanks for all the comments. I already tried the window reset procedure. There seem to be a few variations of this. I don't think it is a motor issue as before it went the roof was as smooth as butter, no slowing down or jerkiness. Also as mentioned Im sure I should have some light on the button control.
