2003 Z4 Randomly not starting

I have a 2003 with 42000 miles on it. I have only owed the car less than one year. One day, when I tried to start my car, it would turn over, but not start. It was almost like it was not getting any fuel. I had it towed to my mechanic (a private operation, not a BMW dealer) and he said that nothing was showing up on the computer, so he thought that it was the fuel pump. He installed the fuel pump and a few weeks later it would not start again. I had it towed to the local BMW dealer where I had purchased the car 6 months earlier. They installed a new fuel pump relay switch. It worked for a few months, and then would not start again. I had it towed back to the BMW dealer. They had if for 8 days, and said there was nothing wrong with it. It started up when they tried. Now it just did the same thing again. it turns over, but will not start. I don't really want to bring it back to the dealer where I bought it, as they were pretty rude last time I was there. Has anyone heard of this or experienced this happening to their Z4's?? Thanks in advance for any comments and or help!!

Update..... I just went out and tried to start it and it started up like there was never a problem, no hesitation, no smoke from exhaust... just started up after 2 days.... this drives me crazy, as I feel that I can not trust my car

Last Wednesday was a great day, sunny and in the 50's, so I put the top down and went to the store. Got my groceries and when I went out, the car wouldn't start again. Had it towed to my mechanic, and am still waiting to hear..... :x

Update again.... After having the car towed to my mechanic, I told him that the problem seemed to be from the fuel line. I asked him to take the fuel line out and check it, or the fuel filter. The last time, he said he doubted it was the fuel filter, as the tanks are plastic, and they don't have problems. Well, he took the fuel filter out (pain in the neck, as you have to remove the tank), but alas....it was the fuel filter. The car is running fine now. Total of $1800.00 later!!

It appears your talking to yourself Bosley. I had a similar problem. Everyone thought it was fuel related. Turned out to be a sensor in the forward engine compartment.
