Also, airbags have only been mandatory since 1998 so non of my classic cars would have been fitted with them but you don't see owners of old cars fretting that they don't have airbags. If push came to shove I think z4 owners would prefer to keep their cars and ditch the airbags

I can definitely do the fit and coding for you but finding one of that batch of numbers is like locating a unicorn. I’ll keep my eyes peeled

Trouble is, what's the chances it'll have one of the right batch?
I would think scrapping is a little extreme! Even if you gave up and found another one, I would consider taking this one and just waiting it out until I found a module.

Why don't you get one of those gadgets mentioned in another post, that switches fault light off whilst you wait for a suitable module. That way it will pass MOT but still show as a fault on the code reader. It will mean part of airbag system will not work but better than scrapping car
