2003 Z4 3.0 - scraping noise from engine bay

Hello everyone,

Had my 2003 Z4 3.0 (M54B30) a few months now and find myself panicking about every little noise, so I thought I'd come and ask for some help.

Lately I've noticed a scraping noise from the engine bay. Can't hear it while driving, only at a standstill with the window down or from outside the car. Doesn't happen at idle, only once I hold the revs up to around 1.2k+, and it rises and falls with the RPM. Same whether it's cold or fully warmed up.

Alternator bearing I’m thinking Pat, it isn’t a big problem at this stage if it is that so don’t fret, it won’t fail, just get louder over time, but will need a new alternator or exchange one at some point.
