Need your help.....I am new to the Z4's and stand before you stark naked in my stupidity suit! Presently I have the stock tires that came with the car. They are 225-45R17 RFT....only 33K miles and they are nearly bald. So I will need new tires, but before I buy them I am considering changing out the wheels to an 18 inch that way I won't waste too much money. My questions are as follows.
Can my 2003 Z4 2.5Ltr handle an 18 inch wheel. Also would the car be able to handle 255-50R18 tires.....You may have guessed it.
I just came across a set of BMW 7 series wheels and tires that are in excellent condition and very affordable, The tires are like new and they are Proxes S/T.....I would like to buy the set of 4 wheels with tires.....but I am totally unfamiliar with the Proxes S/T tires......So my 3 questions would be.....1. Has anyone in the forum put 255-50R18 on their Z4's, any problems with that?
The second question concerns the Proxes S/T tires, any comments? Lastly I know that going from a 17 to an 18 inch wheel and a larger tire will effect my speedometer....which way up or down and how will it effect my mileage reading up or down? Thanks for any and all input, if my questions appeared to sound stupid, my apologies as I am a newbee to the Z4 and I'm on a limited budget...Thanks please don't all respond at once!

Jamie_Z4......Looks like I lost the set of 18 inch wheels.....sold for 350 dollars....I presently have 225-45 R 17 RFT
tires now I am looking for a good set of tires that will give me both performance and durability.....Any recomendations?

Falken FK452 are well regarded, not sure if you can get them in the states but they're pretty affordable in the UK and offer good performance.

I'd avoid Runflats if you want a decent ride quality.

As for the rim, I would try and stick with a proper Z4 wheel design if I were you, but that's just my personal tastes!
