My car for 8 years, 45,000 miles from new. Properly maintained with invoices to support.

GOOD POINTS -
Mechanically excellent - no smoke or untoward noises. Strong engine with no history of problems
Excellent bodywork with just a small area of blistering to front edge of bonnet
New hood motor fitted 2020
Aircon regassed last year
Good leater seats
Wind deflector
6 CD changer
Service history
Almost unmarked refurbed alloys with nearly new Bridgestone runflats

THE PROBLEM -

Steering column sent to 'specialist' with intermittent loss of assistance. Returned as 'we can't fix it' and on being refitted car will not start. All electrics work except starter. No fault codes, suspect steering electronics now failed and uncommunicative. In any case, assume that the column needs replacing.

Car will need trailering away. At this stage would prefer not to break for parts and would sell either -

On the wheels and tyres as shown with a set of winter steels also runflats as spares - £2000
or sat on the winter steels only at £1600.

Car is near Stone in Staffordshire, can be seen most days or evenings.

Where did you send it ? Sounds like the eps motor. Did you send it to ecutesting ?
Exactly what I was thinking.
3 hours of your time and £295 to fix the EPS motor.
Another hour and about 50 quid to fix the starter.
I'll be honest, if it wasn't so far away I'd grab it right now.

I know its not what you want but if you do end up breaking, shoot me a message
Fingers crossed you get it fixed or sold or both though

Bargain of the year for a doer upper. I’d have it too if I didn’t already have one, but I’m only allowed one at a time. :x

That is where I sent it. Initially said they couldn't find the (intermittent) fault, then that they were unable to fix it.

Still not a whole column change though.
I believe I'm right in saying ECU testing can provide a replacement motor?
