I have decided to sell my E85 Z4 3.0i after an excellent year of ownership this is my 10th BMW and second E85; I am something of a BMW fan! The car was purchased in 2014 as a "weekend" toy and has therefore been regularly, yet lightly, used. The overall condition is good, both internally and externally, mechanically very healthy and with a good spec.
I shall list the full spec of the car below under the various headings to provide full details to those who are new to these cars and to make it easy to search for the parts you want and for those familiar.
General
• 2003.
• 77,500 miles.
• Full Service History.
• Black exterior.
• Red leather interior.
• 6 speed manual gearbox.
• 12 months MOT.
• Taxed (for test drive purposes but can no longer stay with the car).
• Full document wallet, 2 x keys, history folder.
Engine, Gearbox and Brakes
• 3.0i, 24v, straight 6, DOHC engine designated M54. This is widely regarded as one of the strongest and most reliable of BMW's legendary 6 cylinder engines. This engine has not used any oil (my E39 can use a bit but that is perfectly normal for these engines even up to 1 litre per 1000 miles!).
• Cooling system is absolutely fine with no leaks.
• DISA valve has been inspected and robust - no rattles or performance loss.
• 6 speed manual gearbox. Clutch and box are fine. I have not removed the Clutch Delay Valve (CDV). I have fitted the ZHP gear knob (OEM) which really improves both the feel and weight of the shift.
• Sport button - changes throttle map and steering sensitivity.
• Brakes are standard items - disks and pads are fine.
Exterior
• Black paint - generally good with a car park mark at the front right just above the fog lamp (you can just see it in the photo) and the usual chips on the bonnet that you might expect. There is swirling but you need to be close to see it - a day with clay bar and wax will sort that but I wanted to use this one (unlike my last which was polished more than driven!) so have not done so. The paint is perfectly presentable as is.
• Roof - great condition with new roof motor fitted the week I purchased the car (previous owner fortunately). These do go and cost over £700 to rectify (I have receipts from BMW for the motor and a respected garage that did the fitting). Roof is regularly cleaned and protected with Autoglym products so the water beads and runs off.
• BMW 108 alloys (18") - 5 spoke alloys which have the usual flaking. Structurally sound but refurbishment required to make A1.
• Bridgestone Potenza Run Flat tyres - lots of tread. I would change for normal spec if I was keeping the car but the run flats are not actual bad despite what some may claim.
• Stubby aerial.
• 4 layer, fully waterproof and breathable, fitted car cover.
Interior
• Full heated, electric and memory (3 position for driver) red leather seats.
• Climate control (ice cold).
• Full colour sat nav - flip up screen which has sat nav, computer, radio etc.
• Cruise control.
• Auto xenon lights.
• Auto wipers - new Bosch aeroflow wipers fitted as well as new windscreen.
• Folding electric wing mirrors.
• Extended storage - space behind seats and between them.
• Electric roof - new roof motor professionally fitted in 2014.
• Auto dim rear view mirror.
• OEM wind deflector.
Service History
• Car has a Full Service History as detailed below. I have not serviced the car this year as I have only done 3000 miles and the computer states over 10000 miles until condition based servicing is due. I have receipts from 2011 onwards and, should you wish, the BMW Main Dealer receipts can be obtained. I have a fully stamped service book to reflect the correct servicing.
• Additionally, a number of coil packs, road springs, suspension components and the roof motor have been changed for which receipts are present.
