Hope someone can help. A brief history of the problem. The car has been running brilliantly engine wise for the last 4yrs of my ownership it’s only covered 64,000mls and is regularly serviced by myself. I’m wondering if my problem is fuel related because an 80ml round trip where it never missed a beat the fuel ran lower than I normally have it and the fuel light came on but was nowhere near empty. Anyhow the next morning I started it and the tick over was very lumpy but cleared when I give it more revs. The car ran fine until I finished my journey. On startup it was again lumpy but this time it cut out and will not even attempt to fire up, it’s just spins over. I have a very cheap code reader which came up with multiple cylinder misfires and something to do with “trim”. It gave me the option to clear fault which I did but to no avail it didn’t help. The code reader is now showing no faults but the car still doesn’t start.

Get an Easy Start can from Screwfix and see if she will fire up. Also try the other car key. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ay3lZgDsJ8A&t=321s

Thanks for your swift reply. I’ll try my spare key, good idea. If it fires up using easy start what will that indicate. I’ve used easy start on diesel FLT’s but never on a petrol engine.

If it fires up with the easy start then that points to the problem being fuel related.
