First off- let me declare; my name is Stuart and I am an addict. I am addicted to Z4's and I need to feed the habit, so I'm listing my current car here in the hope that it goes to a good home... to help me buy my next project!
I've enjoyed older BMW's for around 15 years now, Z4's for a year and I am fairly proficient with DIY mechanics. I'm not a trader, I don't profess to be an expert, but I do like to have a well sorted car thats in good condition!
Enough about me, onto the car.
Z4 3.0 Auto that, in my opinion, has had a good life and has been well looked after.
66700 miles, MOT is September and (touches wood) I see no major fails. I am happy as this is coming up to a month to look at MOT'ing the car but would expect that to bump the £ up... negotiable
Sapphire black metallic and 18” 108 style alloys (split, staggered rims) with new rubber
Refurbished beige Oregon leather, sycamore wood trims
Folding and dimming mirrors
Electric memory and heated seats
Storage pack
Sports button
Navigation and Bluetooth prep- recent CD ROM for sat nav (2018 I think) and AUX input installed
PDC rear
Xenon headlights, auto lights and wipers
Cruise control
6 CD changer and high performance sound system (Carver amp 10 speaker system)
And- cup holders!!!
I am the 4th owner acquiring the car this April. Service history supplied is part dealer, part BMW specialist, then from me getting the car the list of what's been done is as follows:
Full service: all filters and fluids changed including diff oil etc. Gearbox oil and filter changed.
The VANOS unit has been reconditioned, replacing the old seals, rattle rings and bearings- the difference this makes to the engine performance is amazing- it now picks up like a new car and returns a better MPG. This also replaced the head cover gaskets and bolts. Its an M54, so say no more!
New spark plugs
All belts replaced
New water pump, expansion tank and thermostat plus oil thermostat
Front and Rear shock absorbers/top mounts fitted
All drop links, anti-roll bar bushes replaced front and rear
New brake pads at front, new discs and pads at rear with new front and rear pad sensors
New battery with 3-year warranty
All pipes checked and greased, underside covers removed to check for issues.
Fuel cap seal o-ring replaced
New wipers and wiper motor serviced
Both headlights removed, repaired (some clips were broken) and cleaned/polished
Aircon regassed
Whippy fitted but can come with a stubby!
Steering wheel recovered with a Mewant cover
GM5 module relays replaced
Interior lights replaced with LED's
The only modifications which add to the value are a stainless-steel exhaust and non runflat, Goodyear tyres which are virtually new.
In addition, brake pipes, suspension joints (wishbones and lollipop bushes) and flexi hoses have been replaced in the very recent past. I've had the front of the car off to do works on lights etc and no structural damage.
A gap tech module is fitted allowing the top to be opened and closed via the key.
Original bill of sale shows all optional extras- a £40k car!
Private (ageless) number plate will stay with the car. EGZ5002. Note the car was put straight onto a private plate on purchase from Stephen James Enfield, but I think reg date means it would have been a 53 plate.
Both keys.
The car has also benefitted from a deep clean and valet, paintwork was clayed and treated recently.
The roof motor has been checked, relocated to boot and the drains cleared- when doing this it was discovered that the motor has been replaced with a brand new one- again an indicator that this car has been looked after! The roof has been treated using Autoglym waterproofing/cleaning products and is dry inside- no leaks. The interior being beige has also been cleaned, recoloured and protected.
As its a 'forum car', you can clearly see what I've done since April to sort any issues.
With a critical eye- the aircon still isn't blowing as cold as I want. There are some scratches and bumper repairs around the car and an annoying plastic rattle from behind the passenger side that no amount of WD40 will stop. The passenger mirror does not fold and there is a dent (minor) under that mirror- I think in the past the mirror was broken off and that impacted on the door. Being an 18 year old car its not concourse- but its still very clean, polishes up well and on the whole is good.
It NEEDS to go to someone who will continue to care and prolong this great cars lifespan- it rarely gets driven by me and I (aside wanting a new project with all its problems) have run out of stuff to 'do' on it. It drove 200 miles this weekend to Snetterton and didn't miss a beat! No steering notchiness, sports button worked well!
As I need to put a price up, I'll start at £6500 which is what its advertised elsewhere. I'll happily talk to genuinely interested forum members though. I do have the option to sell with (at a price to be agreed) a hard top (also sapphire black) with tools, side covers and storage cover. I'm based near Lincoln and happy to chat.
