Hi everyone,

I have recently purchased a 2003 z4 3.0 with the sat nav/tv.

My main issue is I want dab radio and iPhone connectivity without messing up the sat nav. I would also like to turn the analogue tv into digital if thts possible but I'm not reli concerned about that but I do desperately want DAB and iPhone usage.

Would anybody be able to tell me what my options are, I looked at the alpine exit-dab but they don't give much info in the way of compatibility.

Many thanks

If you have bluetooth, an iPhone will pair OK. If you want to use it as an iPod too, then an Intravee with a Alpine KCA-420i will sort you out and integrates well with the nav. This is the setup I have. For DAB, if you can find an older Alpine module on fleabay and add an Intravee switch you can have both iPod and DAB. You can get the equivalent of a set top box to hook in and get digital TV through your existing TV module although by now you are going to have a fair few boxes in the boot. Just as an FYI, DAB is getting mixed reviews on here, I don't know what sort of quality you'll get. I can only vouch for the Intravee/KCA-420i combo

One other thing to keep in mind, the Alpine iPod module can only handle lists of 511 items. That includes songs, artists, albums, playlists etc. So if you have more than that you'll need to create playlists. I just managed to scrape in as I had over 500 albums but less than 511.

I had a Dice iPod device with my non sat nav stereo. Worked really well, all the song names and things were displayed on the stereo, could change song, artist and album using the stereo.

There was a line in so you could connect a DAB.

There's also an Alpine product called EZi-DAB, which allegedly allows iPod integration/charging, along with DAB functionality.

As I've found with most aftermarket DAB systems, you really need the DAB aerial to get the most out of the system.
