2003 Central locking issue

Howdy Folks. My wifes Z4 has developed an intermittent issue where the drivers side lock does not come all the way up and doesn't unlock the door.
It happened once before but corrected its self as it has done again.
I don't know if it is just coincidence but both times it appears to have fixed itself is after the boot was opened and closed a couple of times.
Any advice would be appreciated.

The actuator cable is probably worn, though it could be other faults like a bad relay, motor, electrical connection etc. The problem with intermittent faults is it is difficult to locate the problem source and it's easy to see correlations where none exist. If it's not too inconvenient, you probably should wait until it gets worse before expending any energy trying to locate the fault.
 
Thanks bcworkz. You are spot on. The imagination can create all sorts of fixes. In Australia dealer bought cars have 3 months dealer warranty which runs out in 3 weeks so I will get it checked out by BMW in case it is something expensive which with BMW it usually is.
