Hi got this problem with srs light not coming on with ignition on,I have some fault codes so I recon light should be permanently on also e few years back there was a failure at mot for airbag light on OK on retest and I know some mot stations used to disconnect light or blank it off.Idid a test using diagnostics to check clock and lights and srs light did not come on so removed clocks thinking its a bulb removed but looks like a sealed unit also checked module at rear of handbrake for disconnected wires but all OK anyone got any ideas thanks. Iain

Could be the bulb holder has been filled with some stuff to blank it off as even with a bulb removed there is a led behind it that will glow if there is an airbag fault. List the codes you have so we know whats going on with the system.
Whatever is blocking the bulb holder would need to be removed and a replacement bulb put in thre to see if its lit permenantly. As you have codes I would suspect it would be lit. The status of the bulb cold be viewed using INPA software which would be another way of confirming if its on or off. Then you will have to chase down the fault thats brought the light on.
Could be dirty or loose connections under the seats or failed modules, codes should point you in the right direction.

Thanks so you can get into clocks to change bulb will remove and investigate I have inpa and delphi which I used to get codes, not really familiar with inpa yet so mainly use delphi thanks again for information. Iain

You can open the clocks up for a look see what’s going on with the light- only a few screws and plastic clips

Tell us the codes you have when scanned.

No light is an MOT advisory, light on is a fail as we know.
I got caught out by that one on my first Z4.

Yes light was tapped in 2014 not done many miles since but was advised at last mot, may have to retape it as mot is due next month unless I've sorted out srs codes than the next electrical job is rear parking sensors. ,will post srs fault codes later today. Iain

I never knew that I assumed a full fail

The MOT man came in and said "its passed but where is your SRS light?" I said eh? Then he told me the above. I'd never noticed that it wasn't coming on with the key then going off. I didn't investigate as I was selling it to WBAC that same afternoon!
It does seem wrong I agree.
